i want to do something to change the stance on my cayman. i want to either get new rims in a bigger size or put on wheel spacer with my existing 19' rims. I basically want that look that the wheel wells are filled up. Any advice?
Thanks
I put Boothe Design 6mm in the front and 15mm in the back and it both looks and handles superb. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/shades_smile.gif
I still have a set of 18mm ones I could sell for half price.
interesting... why did you go with the 15mm instead of the 18mm???
The 18mm ones were a tad closer to the wheelwell than the 6mm ones were in front, so I reduced them to 15mm and the front and back fitment matches. I have the 19' Carrera Classic wheels.
so all in all how does it look??
If you need close-up pics I try to take some tonight.
wow,, great picture, as well as the car. Mine isArtic Silver with the same rims as yours. If you wouldn't mind i would love to see a shot from behind that shows the side angle view to see how the rims sit in relation to the body. I'm pretty certain I'm going to go with the 6mm for the front and 15mm for the back. thanks for the offer on the 18mm though.
Coupe, a close-up taken wheel level from the rear at a slight angle would help to see how much the wheels stick out and align to the well. Thanks. -sjd
p.s. - Nice car, great color. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif
And I thought I'd read somewhere on here it's not advisable to have different spacer sizes front to rear. Is that untrue? Thanks.
Most wheelsellers and the PCA tech site advise against having spacers of different sizes front to rear. I'd imagine if you avoid the track andhave a mild driving style it isn't going to bite you but be forewarned.
Actually, I've autocrossed and I aggressively take onramps and offramps and it handles better than either stock or when I had a 4mm front and 6mm rear setup. It could also be my driving style takes to this particular setup as well. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/shades_smile.gif

if you really want to fill up those wells you need to take a dump..../fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/wink_smile.gif
.....if you dont have PASM then you may want to consider lowering springs. i personally feel that it really tightens up the look. of course there are other considerations and pros/ cons to lowering and leaving stock. do a search on springs and you will find an abundant amount of info here on the subject.
here are a few pics of my my cayman before i swapped out for my current setup. I had the stock 18's and 15mm spacers as well as Eibach pro springs.
one word of advice. ....bringing the wheel out will send road debris into the rear quarter panels near the intake and grills. you will end up with paint chips to some degree. more if you live in an area with lots of crap on the road. good luck../fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif
