Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Discussions that suspect a cause

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2001 996 which is overheating. It is not low on coolant but when the engine temp is getting hot the radiators and heater are still cold. It is also dripping some coolant on the floor from the engine area but not to a geat extent. Any ideas anyone? Migration info. Legacy thread was 25798

POST 2Original post

water pump? thermostat? don't overheat it, theres not a quicker way to ruin an engine than to overheat it Migration info. Legacy thread was 25805

POST 3Original post

get a 993, no water  Migration info. Legacy thread was 25807

POST 4Original post

Thermostat I reckon. Get it booked into a specialist ASAP. I suspect the coolant leak is coolant coming out of the overflow as the water overheats. Migration info. Legacy thread was 25964

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thought thermostat but had the car was fixed yesterday and it was the water pump. The plastic (can you believe!) paddles had fallen apart so water wasn't being pumped. Think I had a very lucky escape not causing some rather serious heat induced problems. Anyone know how to bleed the coolant system when refilling? Migration info. Legacy thread was 25976
