Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK gang, rookie question for the experts. Working through the tail lights on my recently purchased 99 996 Cab and all the bulbs seem to be working now after replacing a couple and finding one socket empty. But when I activate the rear fog light only the driver side illuminates. I seem to remember back years ago a European fog light hanging below the bumper on the rear of several models. But I cannot confirm in my owners manual that is is only a light that functions on one side. Can anyone shed some light on this?? thanks in advance for your input!!

POST 2Original post

I have a 99 996 Coupe and same thing - only driver's side rear fog lamp lights. My friend has an 05 997 Carrera S with the same left-only fog lamp. Curious! My Bentley manual wiring diagram shows both lamps wired to the headlight switch directly - two separate wires but nothing in-between lamps and switch.

POST 3Original post

Driver side rear fog light is standard. Supposed to make sure vehicle behind you sees your car but doesn't mistake it for brake lights.
