Once the harness to the seat has been complete disconnected, remove the seat from the car and lay it on a blanket to not scratch or scuff the backside of the seat.

*NOTE*
The Genuine Porsche Holder and Strap that we supply is NOT the early 2000�s style holder and strap. We supply the current holder and strap for the new version of the fire extinguisher. The complete kit that we supply uses the fire extinguisher from 997 generation and newer.

Step 1:
You will need to begin by removing the seat rail trim by using your Flathead or Trim Removal tool. By taking a look at the Photo below, you will see the tab that is circled, you will need to lift that up and slide the trim towards the dash. Repeat on the other side.
Step 2:
Slide the seat all the way to the rear, using your E12 E Torx remove the front 2 seat bolts. Now slide the seat all the way to the front and remove the rear 2 seat bolts.
Step 3:
If your seats are ONLY heated, disconnect the harness going to the seat.
*If your seats are powered, disconnect the battery prior to disconnecting any harness due to the airbag system. Failure to disconnect the battery may cause unintentional airbag deployment or an airbag light.
Once the harness to the seat has been complete disconnected, remove the seat from the car and lay it on a blanket to not scratch or scuff the backside of the seat.
Step 4:
You will need to remove the switches from the side of the seat, gently use your pry tool and wiggle them until they come off. In the photo below, you will see 2 white tab/clips that are circled. You will need to pull the pin first, and then use a trim tool or flathead screwdriver to pry out the clip from the seat frame. This will allow you to pull the seat cushion away from the frame of the seat giving you the necessary room to thread the necessary holes.
Step 5:
Now that you have access to the mounting tabs that are pre-existing on the seat frame, you will need to thread these 3 holes with a M5x.08 tap. You will then be able to bolt the 986/996 bracket to the seat frame. The M5x12 bolt will be for the center, and the M5x20 bolts will be for the outside.
Step 6:
Prior to reinstalling the seat, bolt the holder/strap combination to the 986/996 bracket using the supplied M6 hardware. Do NOT install the fire extinguisher just yet.
Step 7:
Reinstall the seat. Be sure to connect all harnesses that may have been disconnected for removal. Start with the 2 rear bolts first. There are pins on the underside of the seat rail to help line the seat up and into position. Now you can slide the seat to the rear and install the 2 front bolts and tighten everything down. At this point, you can reinstall the seat rail trim that was removed.
Step 8:
Install the fire extinguisher into the holder!
