Once the cable is disconnected, press the pedal down.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect press the pedal down' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). When you say check, do you mean remove and inspect to establish is it’s broken?

Suggestion
Easy option is disconnect your clutch cable from the pedal - just a case of removing the circlip off the end of the pin that holds the cable to the pedal, then remove the pin.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Always thought my clutch was slightly heavy and this has now been confirmed after driving a pals 996 c2 over the weekend.
My clutch was replaced by Porsche circa 20k miles ago. No slip so I’ll assume that’s all good. A quick google search throws up a pedal spring or possible slave cylinder (this was refitted by Porsche so original) as the likely culprit. Is there a common issue or something I should look at changing first?
Mine feels pretty stiff too. The helper spring is on my to do list. Search on here, but the best fix seems to be to remove it and heat then compress the OG spring a little. Those who did the modification seem to prefer it.
Yes.

Every since I've owned my car I've never been 100% happy with the clutch pedal action. When I had my second clutch fitted I disconnected the pushrod from the pedal to see how the pedal felt. The clutch pedal has a 'clutch assist' spring mechanism to make the clutch feel lighter. The spring works in rocker action and either plants the pedal either to the floor or to it's top position. The problem I found is when lifting the clutch slowly and the pedal is at the position where the spring is in its mid change over point, there is slight resistance off the spring that almost locks the pedal in...

I did a clutch/flywheel job on my 986 2.7 many years ago..all OEM
I remember how light the new clutch was compared to the old one, I thought I'd not bled it properly but it was and worked perfect. No idea why it was lighter.
I’ll pop it off and take a look, this may sound silly bit what exactly am I looking at with the spring?
I see a new one from Porsche is only about £60.
If this isn’t the answer would the slave cylinder potentially be the culprit or would the clutch plate be more likely?
Easy option is disconnect your clutch cable from the pedal - just a case of removing the circlip off the end of the pin that holds the cable to the pedal, then remove the pin. Once the cable is disconnected, press the pedal down. It should be quite hard to push down until it gets halfway, then will fire down to the floor quickly. If it's not doing this, then there's something wrong with the spring. How it works - the spring mechanism pushed the pedal to its final destination once it get's past halfway (does this in both directions). It works as like a rocker system where the spring is fully compressed at the pedals halfway position, so depending where the pedal is, it'll try and push it to it's full extent in either direction - hope this makes sense?
Changing the pedal assister spring is not the easiest job so make sure that is really the issue before going down that route. I know one indy mechanic who hates doing them and where possible will avoid it.
It’s not too bad. Took about 30 minutes. Just a bit tight in there and you’re working on your back. Anyway, it’s out and I’m collecting a new one from Porsche later in the week. I’ll report back if it’s solved the stiffness
