Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone successfully removed the headlining in a 996 (non sunroof, if that makes a difference)? Any good how-to's out there? I have an annoying rattle toward the back, and I can see someone has shoved some foam up there to try and stop it, but without success. I understand there is a retaining rod between it and the roof which I suspect has gotten loose.

POST 2Original post

http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=83491 Any good?

POST 3Original post

Yes, all covered in the manual in decent detail. Not at all difficult, just a few bits to take off first to get at it. MC

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks... I've just found these sections here... http://www.911uk.com/docs/911_996_workshopmanual_body_int.pdf Page 73 of the pdf, though as you say I also need to take off the a,b and c pillar trim. Do I need to stock up on new plastic clips etc, or does it come apart ok?

POST 9Original post

I want to attempt this on my 996 as I have the dreaded rattle, but I’m terrified that I’ll never get it all back on solidly Any hopes and prayers to reassure me??

POST 10Original post

You’ll be fine, like a lot of jobs that seem daunting to begin with, once completed you’ll wonder why you ever stressed, you’ll also feel closer to your car.

POST 11Original post

I think you are right. The noise is doing my head in so I think I’ll tackle it this week whilst the weather is too crap to drive in
