Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I have a leaky power steering hose - the steel and rubber one that goes from pump to pipes in rhs of engine bay (8 in pic below)- its only leaking around the ferrule - I was wondering if anyone ever had this rubber hose remade on the oem steel ends? - its only aluminium ferrule crimped onto a rubber hose after all.. However there is a aluminium part in the centre (not in the diagram) that without cutting open Im not sure what it does ? is is a restrictor of some kind maybe? or just to stiffen the hose assemble to stop it sagging down? can it be deleted with a new rubber section? pics

POST 2Original post

Can't you just get a new ferule crimped on the original pipe?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

maybe - not sure if the rubber pipe would need a bit cutting off end making it possibly a tight fit if a little shorter... but yes i thought that too.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

any idea on the sleeve in the middle of the pipe? seems a little unusual...

POST 6Original post

No. Hence me going down the repair route with the original.
