I'd definitely recommend Panel Perfect in that case then.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

My 996.1 recently went through an extensive bodywork restoration and I wanted to share it's incredible transformation. I originally sent it in for what I assumed was mostly cosmetic bodywork, however, once the Aero skirts were removed, things escalated quickly; rear sills, inner sill sections, and a lot of corrosion hiding where you really don’t want it. 26 years had taken its toll on the bodywork. I put together a full video documenting the entire process: stripping, metal replacement, fabrication, paint, and final reassembly. 996 Full Body Restoration There were definitely moments where I questioned whether it was worth saving, but, seeing it finished made the whole ordeal worthwhile. Check out the final results and the full story. I would love to know your thoughts.

POST 2Original post

Great job they did on it, It's hard to find a decent body shop these days who will do a proper job. She looks fab !

Cheers! Hearing everyone's positive reactions to the work has settled any buyer's remorse I was suffering. I just want her back now, so I can show her off at some shows this year. Part 2 should be coming soon - gonna spend a day with the detailer as he does some work on it

POST 5Original post

That’s stunning can I ask what sort of cost is involved with that amount of work?

POST 6Original post

Great work, yeah these cars rust up very well as I found out on mine..... all 4 corners and a rear 1/4 had to be replaced

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I'm really happy with the results! For all the work needed, which consisted of all panels painted except the roof and rear lid/spoiler, and the welding work to the rears and inner sill, I was about £5.7k. The parts needed for the job came to about £550.

Thankfully, I caught mine before it had the chance to get really bad. Having to get a full quarter panel stings though. As a matter of interest, how much is all that setting you back?

best part of 10k it was alot worse. even the front arches needed sorting and had rusted into the funk storage area. all the pictures are in my project thread link below Post in thread 'Damo's 996 c2 rust bucket to fast road / track car' 21 May 2024 Update from slide fab Morning, So the above patches obviously need doing, to do them properly we need to remove a chunk of parts and the tank etc to get the pipes out the way. The other suspect bits are... Front 'boot' floorpan, most of which will clean up and treat but I suspect it may need a little welding on the drivers side. passenger upper arch, almost certain just a clean up needed on this side, would benefit from the coilover being off and doing the full area and then seal it drivers side arch... POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just had a skim through the thread there, looks like a very extensive job! At least it's done now and you know you should get a good few years of trouble free driving as far as rust goes. Looks great!

POST 11Original post

Looks like they're doing a cracking job. Think mine needs a similar amount of work so good to see someone else going through it.

Glad I got it done before it was any worse and too far gone, as I don't think the car would've done well with another winter

POST 13Original post

Great video, car looks amazing. I'm in Central Scotland and would be willing to travel to have a paint job like that. Love it, looking forward to more videos!

POST 14Original post

This is what im scared of. In just over 4 weeks my car goes in for a full glass out respray. Thankfully Unit 11 have the car at the moment and whilst he had it up on the hoist doing brakes and suspension, he comment how good the car is underneath. All the usual areas of concern are mint which is rare for a car of this age. Well done for saving yours, the vid looks fantastic

I'd definitely recommend Panel Perfect in that case then. They're very reasonable and do a quality job. Get in touch with them and let them know you're contacting off the back of watching this video. It might not get you any discount, but it'll certainly help get you the same level of treatment. If you do, let me know, we need more Porsche cruises here in Scotland! Thanks for watching I'll be doing Part 2 in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
