I suspect the issue may be related to the sunroof drains.

While its most likely to be the sunroof drains, have you checked the bottom of your door cards?

Hi, I can post the recommended drain unblocking procedure from the manual, but are sure about your diagnosis?

Mine started leaking a while back and needed resealing, I smothered it with sealant.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I’ve owned my 2002 Porsche 996.2 C4 Coupe (3.6) since 2010 a nd I’ve recently noticed the rear floor area behind the passenger seat is wet.
I suspect the issue may be related to the sunroof drains. When I pour water into the sunroof channel:
One side drains very slowly onto the ground
The other side doesn’t appear to drain at all
Has anyone had this issue before, and can confirm:
Where exactly the sunroof drains exit
The best way to clear them safely (compressed air, strimmer line, etc.)
Any tutorials, photos, or diagrams showing the drain routes and exit points
Any advice would be much appreciated — keen to get this sorted before it causes further issues.
Thanks in advance
R
Nice looking 996! Your wheels are causing the problem. I will take them off your hands

I have a similar issue on my Audi A4 which took ages to fix. It turned out to be the sunroof cassette itself. Good luck!!!
While its most likely to be the sunroof drains, have you checked the bottom of your door cards? if the door membrane has failed, water can get in via the bottom of those over time and also cause problems
Also make sure the water doesn't gather under the passenger seat as it can damage the alarm control module - just ask 986 owners who have had a leaky roof, door cards or blocked rear drains...
The sunroof drains down the two c-pillars. Mine started leaking a while back and needed resealing, I smothered it with sealant. They normally leak at the headlining at either corner near the rear windscreen and drip onto the rear seats though.
Hi, I can post the recommended drain unblocking procedure from the manual, but are sure about your diagnosis? Unlike the cab, your sunroof drains wouldn't leak onto the passenger seat if they were simply blocked, see pic
Here is the procedure, compressed air is recommended, but again, if you have a small leak due to a seal failing I suspect you will make it worse by blowing compressed air through the tube
Just fitted some 997 seats in my 98 C2 and found the carpet actually under the rear seat pad and the carpet in the rear passengers footwell was soaking
I've lifted the carpets up and stuffed some dry towels down there but I need to find the cause and I think it's the sunroof drain that might have cracked or be blocked. The entire rear interior has to come out so not a quick job.
I'd prefer not to have the sunroof purely for this reason, but I actually really like it in the summer.
That carpet foam can hold a lot of water, need more than just towels to get it all out. Prop it up and get a small fan and/or dehumidifier in there. Moving air is the best way of drying out the water.
