Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had compensating plates (I think that's what Porsche call them) fitted with the Eibach just to raise it a touch as the front was catching on bumps/ramps.

Toe arm was replaced a few months back and coffin arm around 4 years ago.

If so can the bush be replaced or do i have to change the shock.

Fortunately it happened when I was tightening the nut on the coffin arm bolt.

There's no reason why you can't use either with your B4 but ride will be firm at the lowered ride height.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Prior to taking off the shock, i used a pry bar to check if there was any movement and all seem tight. Other than surface rust at the bottom which i will clean up and paint, looking at the bottom bush, i can see that there is wear but is it an MOT failure ? If so can the bush be replaced or do i have to change the shock. Also with the spring, albeit it looks in good condition, what does the colour markings signify. I have seen a list of colours but can't find the web page at present. I'd appreciate your comments. Rog
Where is the wear that you can see? The hole shouldn't be worn unless the bolt was loose clamping it in position. No you can't change the bush as its encapsulated in the rubber in the shocker.
Alex, thanks for checking it out. if you scroll into the 2 middle photos you can see a rough surface. That shows both sides of the shock. Maybe i'm over concerned about it.
Looks fine to me. Any rough surface on the face of the aluminium bush is just the imprint of where it's clamped in the hub upright. I'd give the whole base assembly of the shock a good wire brush and give a dose of black Hammerite or the likes though.
Fortunately it happened when I was tightening the nut on the coffin arm bolt. Full story here:

I've had an annoying knock I've had for some time now coming from the rear RH side. There was quite an amount of play in the lower control arm/fork that supports the coffin arm so I replaced that last month. Toe arm was replaced a few months back and coffin arm around 4 years ago. It wasn't a bad knock but every now and again, especially braking down a steep hill with an uneven surface, you'd hear it.
Anyway, the other day at work I was having a nosey around for the umpteenth time and noticed that my coffin arm eccentric bolt looked like it'd been moving slightly. I went to tighten it up...

Porsche 911 996 (1997-2005)
I've now got my Bilistein B4' and debating whether to go for lowered 30mm Eibach or H&R springs. Before i order can some of you confirm that this build would be compatible and if there's anything to look out for. The car is not going to be used as a track day car. I'm going to use the original top mounts.
I'd appreciate any thoughts ?
I've had H&R on stock dampers and Eibach on Koni Special Active on my 996. I didn't measure it but I'd say the Eibach are 5-10mm lower than H&R. I had compensating plates (I think that's what Porsche call them) fitted with the Eibach just to raise it a touch as the front was catching on bumps/ramps. There's no reason why you can't use either with your B4 but ride will be firm at the lowered ride height. Depends what you're looking for really and on what type of roads you drive
Thanks for the response. I've read so much on these two manufactures and it does appear that Eibach are slightly lower (upto 40mm). Both companies have good reviews. I might give Centregravity a ring tomorrow for their thoughts.
