Should easily be getting over 30 on a clear motorway run with the engine up at temp.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After the first 6 months of ownership I can report MPG for 1000 miles of mixed driving but few long Motorway stints as around 28mpg-30mpg. I am totally surprised. I am doing some hard acceleration although most of the local roads are timed 40 mph cameras, so limited in that respect. I do drive sensibly, but clearly this is an efficient engine. I had a 2014 Type R Golf and got a pretty much an identical figure for Urban and on the Motorway about 36 mpg. I also had a ton of problems when I bought the Golf from a VW dealer, it's so for so good with the Porsche except the door window drop and battery drain.
I get between 23-26mpg regardless of driving style in my 99 C4......... alot better than the 9-12mpg i got in my corvette
i don't tend to take her on the motorways much.... A and B road blasts are far more rewarding.
My 3.6 averages about 22 mixed driving but 28-30 on a (rare) motorway run. Had it as low as 14 on a spirited early morning 40min blast though. I find at slower cruising speeds 40-50 its happier and more economical in 4th/5th with the revs up over 2000/2300 than it is in 6th.
Last summer I had to go to Scotland on the motorway. Cruise control at 70 gave an indicated 36 but the following months trip to Spain and back was 32 over 2500 miles including the Pyrenees both ways . It’s really economical on a run but round town and going up alpine passes it’s more like 15-18. It’s a 996.2 C2

To be honest for the power delivery, comfort and fun that I get, it's amazing value!
