Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I hear the radium AOSs are really good, they look really nicely made and have heard of them used on m96s, one day I may look into it.

I shall be replacing the AOS now, but i was wondering if it's possible to just delete it altogether rather than replace it with another which may fail in time.
Leading evidence: 'Use on m96s, one day i may look into it' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace aos now' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Not all engines run crankcase vacuum but it's a fundamental part of the engine design in this case.

Suggestion
While oil starvation is a concern on cornering with a wet sumped flat engine (and why deeper and baffled sumps are a good idea for track use), an AOS is just a crankcase venting device.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I shall be replacing the AOS now, but i was wondering if it's possible to just delete it altogether rather than replace it with another which may fail in time. It doesn't do much only lower emissions and cause mischief does anyone have any info on this subject or know of anyone who has done this?
It's critical to maintaining a (partial) vacuum in the crankcase which is there to ensure good cylinder ring sealing among other things. It 100% cannot be removed! Not all engines run crankcase vacuum but it's a fundamental part of the engine design in this case.
Yeah, I second the suggestion to update to the UAOS, and get the track-drain add-on while you’re at it. It allows the collected engine oil in the accumulator to drain back into the sump, so you won’t have to worry about manually emptying the accumulator. You’ll also be able to overfill your engine oil, so you’ll have a plentiful supply.
I've got a new one now, the old one lasted for 26 years and it's still not failed (no symptoms anyway) only changing it because i have the engine out, if this one lasts half that i'll be happy.
You'd presumably use it with the same uro pcv valve as the UAOS uses. They're only about £20 and are everywhere, I think they're a VAG part.
Like most things when it comes to these cars I don't think it's as mysterious as the vendors who sell expensive products would have you believe.
Oh its not tricky, but a very fast way of killing an engine if you dont understand how they work. M96 engines need plenty of oil to avoid starvation issues which can occur on high g corners even on the road. Having the engine able to process more oil quicker and return to sump keeps the bearings happy, get it wrong and it'll cost you!
While oil starvation is a concern on cornering with a wet sumped flat engine (and why deeper and baffled sumps are a good idea for track use), an AOS is just a crankcase venting device. It won't starve the engine of oil through not being able to drain separated oil back into the sump fast enough, and I daresay you'd know all about it from the clouds of smoke from excessuve oil vapour being drawn through the intake before starving the bottom end became an issue.
The issues folk report with the factory AOS for track use is it becoming overcome / blowing the diaphragm and pushing excessive blowby through the intake which can cause all sorts of problems, hence why for example the motorsport AOS has two chambers and the UAS an additional catch can after the standard separator.
