My understanding is that the coils where replaced on 2024, but it does sound strange initally when cold exhaust wise, unless its just the blow from the rear flexi as it has a crack in it which is wrapped temporarily.

The quickest thing to try would be cleaning the idle valve and the MAF sensor (make sure you use the proper cleaning fluid!).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had a similar issue, and it fixed it for me (cable throttle 996 manual).

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello Everyone, Looking for a bit of advice please. My 996 is an early cable throttle car. Tiptronic. The accelerator no longer seems smooth on low revs, it has always been spot on (until recent). I will try and explain as best ass possible. I will go further in to depth than I probably need to so everyone gets the whole story. The car is always outside under a cover and I don't get a chance to use it loads. When initally pulling away (extremely gentle on throttle) its almost like it bogs then it will just take off fine! like nothing - then everything - on or off type scenario. Am I right in thinking throttle body is being sticky or MAF etc? Any advice appreciate.

POST 2Original post

Is it the same once the car is fully up to temperature or say after an hour of driving? Could also be coil pack related.

POST 3Original post

could be idle valve sticking on the side of the throttle body , easy to remove it clean it with carb cleaner.

Thank you for reply, Much the same throttle wise, but when cold or first a start after a week or so it does start but has been known to cut out initally once or twice. My understanding is that the coils where replaced on 2024, but it does sound strange initally when cold exhaust wise, unless its just the blow from the rear flexi as it has a crack in it which is wrapped temporarily. I have a new exhaust to eventually fit.

Hi, Thank you. I will need to look at this as its gradually getting worse, the car does cut out when cold and has been know to cut out at idle in traffic but very rarely, and quite embarrassing.

POST 7Original post

The quickest thing to try would be cleaning the idle valve and the MAF sensor (make sure you use the proper cleaning fluid!). It will cost you about £10 and could solve the problem. I had a similar issue, and it fixed it for me (cable throttle 996 manual).

Not ran any codes recently as there were none! No warning lights on dash either... Not sure if or when the coils were replaced.
