This is not a probability of success.

I would check the fuse as well, just to rule it out.

On the plus side, I found a bunch of change from previous owners that must have been destined for the ashtray but missed
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Get it fixed regardless of the problem so you can enjoy the car!
I have a '99 911 Cab. The soft top is currently down. It won't come back up. When I press the button, the deck and the sides will operate, exposing the top, but the top itself won't come up. The dash light for the top just begins to blink at that point. Any suggestions? Could it be the motor? Switch? Fuse? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I could just put the hard top on for winter, but that obviously just delays the issue until spring.
I had a similar problem with my Boxster. Turned out to be the (approx) $2 switch itself. Get it fixed regardless of the problem so you can enjoy the car! I would check the fuse as well, just to rule it out. I am told the sensor in the "hook" can also cause problems.
For me it ended up being the emergency brake interlock switch located next to, the emergency brake! It is also possible that the dash switch has failed, but I haven't read too many problems for that one.
I got it here :

Thanks very much for all your help. I just ordered the switch, although I've already ordered a dash switch too, which it turns out they do carry on this site. One more question, if you don't mind: is the e-brake switch tough to get at and replace?
You need to be patient. If you have a Bentley manual it will help. You will need a TORX driver to remove the interior screws. I only had to replace it once, so it took me longer to
find
all the screws
Unless you remove the drivers seat (which I did not do) there are space limitations but it can be done. On the plus side, I found a bunch of change from previous owners that must have been destined for the ashtray but missed
