Disconnected the fuse and started the car and ran it for a few miles, then stopped, turned the car off, put the fuse back in and still no radio 😤😡
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect fuse and started the car' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fuse located in back' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Reading page 4 of the CDR manual, it is indicated that the radio unit must be replaced by a dealer.

Suggestion
Guess its time to pull the radio and check the fuse located in back.

Suggestion
If it costs more than replacing the radio with something from this decade it might seem that would be the path to take.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This solved my problem and the radio has worked fine since.
Have '08
Cayman S
with CDR 24. After a few weeks of driving with no issues with radio, starting out on trip and found that none of the controls for the radio unit worked...no on/off, no volume, no station change, etc!
Noticed that a red light was lit to the right of the display. After talking to dealer who had not heard of this issue, wound up pulling fuse for amplifier and drove without audio (not necessarily the worst thing!) for the trip. Reading page 4 of the CDR manual, it is indicated that the radio unit must be replaced by a dealer. I can understand the security which prevents anyone from using the radio if stolen, etc. From threads on CDR replacement, etc., it seems that there must be a way to avoid this from happening. Anybody had similar experience or know what the cause is?
electronic gremlins
Had that happen to me. Then lost all dash lights. Turns out the master connector to the instrument panel was loose. They reseated the connector and all problems solved.
Let the dealer fix it under warranty.
This recently happened to my CDR-24 as well, and with some help I found a thread which indicated you should pull the radio fuse (D9?), start the car and let it run for at least 10 seconds, turn the car off, re-install the fuse and start the car again. This solved my problem and the radio has worked fine since.
Hope this helps!
Thanks, Speedy and Robert. After removing F10 which killed the amplifier (and audio) so did not have to listen to "hash" in interim, I did try removing F9 which controls the CDR 24 head unit. After short wait, re-installing both fuses resulted in radio working fine. Hopefully this is the end of it and does not require Robert's master cable fix which will entail dealer appt.
I was so excited when I read this thread. I've got the same problem. So I removed the fuse, and, YES!, the radio (
CDR24
) started working as it should... for about 10 minutes. The buttons and knobs all work properly, but the display is now frozen on a station's frequency (105.7). So I'll try the
Porsche
fuse option again, but I wonder if the radio is shot. Of all the vehicles I have owned in my life, I have NEVER had a radio go bad. Blown speaker, yes. Bent antenna, yes. But never a bad radio. Looks like the aftermarket radio purchase I was hoping to make a little farther down the road (pardon the pun) will come a bit sooner.
Resurrecting a dead thread, but the 'dead radio' issue has struck me, as well. No display, sound, nothing. '08 CS, purchased used. Came with owners manuals but no radio guide. Radio went dead on me a few days ago and I noticed a red flashing light just to the right of the radio display (not sure that I've noticed it before?). Found the fuses for the amp and radio in the footwell fuseblock. Pulled both (noticed the red light went out), but when I put them back in, the light continued to flash, and no 'anything' from the radio.
I also disconneced the
battery
for a few minutes, but that didn't change anything, either.
Now I see where one posted pulled the fuse and started the car, then turned the car off and reinstalled the fuse. Will try that.....frustrating.
I've read numerous 'tongue-in-cheek' comments about driving without the radio and listening to the motor run. Coming from a Corvette with a full
Borla exhaust
system (sounds like beautiful trumpets when the pedal is to the floor!!), I can barely hear the flat 6 behind me. Kind of disappointed in that. Anyway...gotta figure out how to get the radio back on again!
It’s time to update and the frustrations continue. I checked the 10a fuse in the foot well fuse block and it was fine. Then watched countless videos about how to pull the head unit and did that to access the fuse behind the head unit. And it was fine. Dammit! Checked the wires and connections in the back of the head unit and tried to power things up with the head unit in my hand and still no power. And I still have the flashing red light to the side of the display.
Anyone?.
The flashing red light typically comes on when the car is locked and the alarm is armed. Maybe there is some issue with the alarm system which is in turn impacting the operation of the radio?
Just a thought...

Possibly so... the alarm flashes constantly. Even when driving (and I’m talking about the one in the head unit of the radio, not in the button for the central locking). Also, I don’t have the brochure for the radio, so flying blind regarding its features and operation.
Dead thread, but the 'dead radio' issue has struck me, as well. No display, sound, nothing. '06
red flashing light just to the right of the radio display.
Fuses are OK.
Disconnecting
battery
doesnt help.
Wiring behind radio seem to be OK.
Wake up signals (switched +12 V) work.
I have no idea what is the problem.
After few years do you have any other solution?
NADA? Not asking for a code? Nothing triggered it (like a dead
battery
, or alarm malfunction)? If that's the case, I think your answer is:
https://www.planet-9.com/threads/di...-radio-headunit-to-replace-the-standard-cd30-radio-and-probably-the-pcm3.253949
In watching the threads above, no one appears to have solved the issue. If I had to guess - there may be something that can get triggered in the radio telling it that it's been stolen (don't laugh - BMW had this on some of theirs) - and then it effectively bricks the radio making it worthless to the thief and discouraging them from stealing more of them. It's the sort of excessively convoluted engineering that Germans are prone to. In the US - there is a company in NJ - Becker Autoradio - that services the OE radios from German cars, and I'm sure they could fix this issue, but at what cost? If it costs more than replacing the radio with something from this decade it might seem that would be the path to take.
Good luck - and let us know how you make out.
