Not to say these are legal in the US - but some apparently are TUV approved in Europe for the cars specifically listed..
Will have to do some research on these. Certainly the high/low-beam bulb looks much different from any of the Chinese LED bulbs..
Looking at their compatibility chart - the 987 isn't specifically listed - but there is a general "9" category, that shows some of the bulbs the 987 does use:
So is there a significant difference between the Osram LEDs and the Chinese?
For our low beam (H7) - they show:
WallyMart has these for around $76:
Robot or human?
For our high beam (H9) they show:
That bulb is $90-110, depending on vendor. Walmart so far is the cheapest I found:
Walmart Link
It REALLY doesn't look much different from the Chinese ones. And has the same IMHO defective design - having to do with two surface mount emitters on different sides of a post vs a circular 360 degree coverage from a coil filament.
If anyone does tryout the rather expensive Osram LED bulbs, please do let us know - and how they're doing..
NOTE
- MANY MANY parts websites and bulb websites show H7's being used for both high and lowbeams. THAT IS WRONG! If you look at the chart below you'll see where H7 highbeams are used - only with HID lowbeams. I'd assume that's because the HID lowbeam is actually a bi-xenon light assembly, that does normal hi/low from the same bulb by moving a mechanical shutter over the reflector to cut off part for the low beam. The high beam in that case - the H7 - is only used when you pull the turnsignal back to flash the lights.
The correct bulbs for the all-halogen stock systems are: H7 lowbeam, H9 highbeam.
NOTE:
I've started this in the 987 forum since I think a lot of 987 owners with halogen (or Chinese LEDs) might be interested, but I'll possibly add feeder-links in some other model forums if any interest is shown here.
