Apologies for the delayed update, I've been away, but the indicator issue was just a loose plug that I'd not seated properly and everything works fine!

As mentioned I swapped both PCBs over and made sure each plug went to the correct terminal as per how it was removed from the donor.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Without giving it too much thought I swapped them out last night and was disappointed to see it didn't work at all.

POST 1Original post

Hi, I recently had a slight disagreement with a truck and cracked the rear right hand side light cluster. Digging around online I found a second hand replacement that came from Spain, and obviously a LHD car as opposed to my RHD one. Without giving it too much thought I swapped them out last night and was disappointed to see it didn't work at all. Having a bit of a look this morning it's apparent they're different due to the fog light placement, which is possibly just a different way of illuminating the brake LEDs ? My question is, can I swap any bits (PCB etc) from my existing damaged one to potentially bring life to the LHD drive one? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

I don't know if this has been done by someone previously, but I'd say you can certainly give it a shot - swap the internals from your old to your new one... shouldn't be that complicated?

POST 3Original post

Thanks. I've been doing a little more digging and it seems to be possible, not just for the 987, but also for other models that some owners want to import from LHD countries too.

So there'ya go. Hey - how about heading over to New Member Introductions and tell us all about yourself and brag on your car a bit (photos ARE expected!).. And while you're doing the job, perhaps a few phone-photos to document it, we could make a DIY/FAQ out of them. BTW - welcome to Planet-9, the Friendly Porsche Forum!

POST 5Original post

Morning! I had some success last night after changing 2 boards in the light and I thought I'd won, but this morning the rear indicator decided to stop working. I'll check it's not just a bulb tonight and see if there's anything else I can swap out. Otherwise it was quite a straightforward process that I'll document once I'm satisfied. I'll head over to new members now and say hello properly

There are plenty of guides on YouTube etc as to how to remove the cluster itself.

Hi IanDP. I need to swap my UK spec rear lights to Euro spec, so switch the fog light from the left to the right hand unit. Any idea if I can just swap the PCBs from left to the right light to achieve this? Are the PCBs the same size/ design across lights?
