Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

This can best be described as having a couple of golf balls rolling around in the boot (no, I have checked!).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After driving "enthusiastically" for long stretches (i.e. over 1hr) I can hear a knocking noise in the front of my (1999) 996 c2 whilst driving at low speeds. This can best be described as having a couple of golf balls rolling around in the boot (no, I have checked!). This doesn't seem to be affected by steering, but I can't be sure on that one. Any ideas gratefully received. Migration info. Legacy thread was 17874

POST 2Original post

It's something in the front suspension, we had this too. I can't remember exactly what it is though. Take it to your OPC and they will know, because it's a common problem. Migration info. Legacy thread was 17878

POST 3Original post

I have identical problem, which I belive to be the anti roll bar links. Difficulty is, I can't get the old ones off. The bottom has come off ok, but the top is jammed in the strut hub. Migration info. Legacy thread was 44300
