Does anyone know if the cd player (PCM and non-PCM) in the Cayman S supports CD-TEXT? I've never gotten it to work with my BMW, but that might be because I'm burning the CD incorrectly. I wish I had a device that I KNEW supported CD-TEXT, so that I could test.
Okay, this is kinda off-topic, but I'm a geek... Have you tried using a different program to read the CD? For example, if you're using Nero to burn it, try reading it with any of the freely downloadable players to see if they recognize the format. You don't need a device to test it. All you need is a simulator.
Disclaimer: I've neverseen the point ofCDTEXT, and may be talking out my...umm... hat.
The PCM stereo can read it - song, title information - from a text file created along with the mp3 tracks.
I'm not sure about the regular stereo, but then it can't read mp3 files either.
Good Point. I'll try playing it on another computer. CD-TEXT is kinda nice to have until they come out with an ipod link for the cayman. It's nice to see a scrolling song/artist name instead of "track 01"
The part I dont get about CDTEXT isthat if you made the disc, you probably recognize all 10 (20?) songs on it. Why do you need the stereo to tell you what they are? They're probably printed on the cover.
If it's MP3, I understand the desire for song recognition. There's 10 times as many songs on the disc - a far better chance that you don't know ALL of them. And the names just don't fit on the cover... On the other hand, the names should be in ID3 tags embedded in the song files, not in CDTEXT.
'the names should be in ID3 tags embedded in the song files, not in CDTEXT.' <br><br>
Really? I thought they were in the CDTEXT file and that what it was reading. I could be wrong. I did some tests earlier of the PCM system and mp3 files
here.
CDTEXT is not the same as the ID3 tag format on MP3/AAC files.
So I made a disc with Nero and the text does NOT show on the standard CD player. Anyone else try this?
