I had the same problem with min, after two hours I removed the leg and used some heat but still no joy,so I just cut the bolt off flush to the box section and drilled the remaining out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, First post so forgive me if it's in the wrong place. I am trying to replace the rear droplinks on my C2. I assumed that the top bolt, that threads into the welded nut at the bottom of the shock absorber, would be easy to undo. However, after two hours with a spanner I have managed to round of the outer nut and it's now stuck fast. Plan B is to grind off the end of the drop link leaving just the bolt and rounded nut. I am then going to try to remove this again using a socket. Can anyone tell me if there is a reason, other than age and rust, why this top bolt is so stiff. The bottom end was removed easily. Cheers in advance for any help you can offer me. Trying to get it done before the WEC event at Silverstone in April. Gerry

POST 2Original post

Hi Gerry, I had the same problem with min, after two hours I removed the leg and used some heat but still no joy,so I just cut the bolt off flush to the box section and drilled the remaining out. I should have done this after I rounded the nut. Hpoe this helps Bob.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Bob, Sorted it in the end thanks. I'm about to start on the lower control arms. I'm going to replace all four hopefully. Just waiting for the weather to improve. Gerry

POST 4Original post

Germany certainly held back on the Solingen steel when Porsche requested some steel to make some nuts and bolts.
