Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am concerned about just putting a new bolt in there so I have been checking into Time Sert, etc.
Leading evidence: 'Check into time sert, etc' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check into time sert, etc' (1 discussions). to repair the threads but nothing that I have found would be appropriate.

What would Porsche suggest other than replace the crossmember?

I wonder whether it would be better to just use the next size bolt and tap the hole appropriately?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have been doing repairs on my 1999 Porsche 996 C4 Convertible. While taking apart some of the front suspension I notice that the ball joint up front was extremely bad. I then took off the Control arm to wheel axle side section which is a M14x1.5x110 bolt that is supposed to be torqued to 118 ft pounds (Number 7 in the attached.. The bolt's threads were a bit mangled about 1/2 way into the length of the bolt. I am concerned about just putting a new bolt in there so I have been checking into Time Sert, etc. to repair the threads but nothing that I have found would be appropriate. What can I do? or What should I do? What would Porsche suggest other than replace the crossmember?
A helicoil would be fine. I dont think there is enough meat to install a timesert. U can get thst size off amazon. Make sure u have the correct dril bit.
Do you think that the helicoil would work since the threads are not full on the bolt but only about the last 1/3 of the bolt. A helicoil inserted would only be at the non threaded part of the bolt. I wonder whether it would be better to just use the next size bolt and tap the hole appropriately?
I dont understand what u r asking?
U would fully drill out the hole. Thread and insert the helicoil. Then put the bolt in and torque to spec. Helicoils r stainless and the way they r designed to dig into the aluminum they r much stronger then a simple steel bolt into aluminum interface. Helicoils are as long as a bolt is in diameter and thats all u need to acheive the maximum strength of a steel to steel connection.
U cant go with a bigger bolt as it wont go though the sleeve on the fork arm.
118 Ft lbs seems extreme, but its the published spec. There must be a reason the engineers chose itchase the threads, put a new encapsulated bolt in there and toque to spec. If it strips, then go with the insert
