Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm an IBM compatable guy but only because I've never really used a MAC.
Leading evidence: 'Use mac' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test drive' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

This can be done by going to the EDIT pulldown, then selecting 'Preferences' and then clicking on the 'Importing' tab and then choosing MP3 Encoder where it says 'Import Using'.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I searched! I also posted this thread in an older 'MP3' thread. I'm stuck.
Okay,
I just read every single topic/thread that relates to making an MP3 CD that can play in the Porsche.
I pick my car up tomorrow and would like to have a few CDs.
I have an IBM Compatable computer (not an Mac).
I did everything people said to do. I made a playlist and dragged all the songs I wanted into that folder. I then clicked on the 'Album' tab. I then went to 'edit' then 'preferences', then clicked on the 'advanced' tab, then clicked 'burning' and chose: Disk Format - 'MP3 CD'.
I then clicked the 'Burn' Icon and the CD said that it could not burn the CD because every single song was a 'AAC' file. I highlighted them all, right clicked and chose convert to MP3. It took about 30 minutes and it looked like it was converting all the files to 'MP3'. I then chose burn and it said that all files were 'AAC'. I checked them individually and they are all still 'AAC'. I tried doing them one at a time and that doesn't work either. It shows the bar going across like they are getting converted but they are not.
What should I do? Am I doing something wrong? I called my brother and he said that it is impossible to save songs in MP3 format to discs via IPOD. He says that, that is the reason he hates ITunes.
What should I do?
Shane
You realize that you will have duplicates of each and every song in your playlist, right? There will be an AAC version and an MP3 version. You need to make a NEW playlist and copy over the MP3 files to that playlist. I've successfully done this several times and I believe the Windows version of iTunes works identically to the Mac version.
I'll bet your brother hates Apple in general.
hsjb,
Okay, I went back to my 'Library' and you were right.... there are two of every song now 'MPEG' ones and 'AAC' ones. I'm just going to delete the current playlist and make a new one and copy all of the 'MPEG' ones over. Thanks! I'll let you know if it works.
LOL
Love the 'hates Apple in general' comment. That's funny.
hsjb,
Man, this forum rocks! I honestly didn't think I was going to be able to burn a cd with MP3s on it tonight. And so easy. Thanks hsjb. From what I can tell, it worked perfectly. I'm pretty confident it will work in my Cayman when I get it tomorrow.
Thanks again,
Shane
Glad to hear I was able to help. The one thing that bugs me about the PCM CD Player is that it doesn't permit spaces and/or punctuation (as far as I can tell) in the CD title for MP3 CDs.
I'll let you know how mine looks tomorrow (as far as spaces, etc).
You guys crack me up with your Apple Vs. IBM stuff.
I'm an IBM compatable guy but only because I've never really used a MAC. They're confusing (due to lack of use). I know they are more powerful when it comes to making movies, graphics, music, etc. From what I hear, they are just better.

So many devisive topics:
Mac vs. PC
Tip vs. Manual
Sport Chrono or not
18" wheels vs. 19" wheels
Debadge or not
Desnork or not
The next arguments:
Left-hand drive vs. Right-hand drive
Full leather or not
Sport seats or regular
Clear side markers or orange side markers (for us Americans)
"Can't we all just get along?"

Remember Grasshopper,
Before you can listen to the sounds of the mp3 cds, you must first become one with the sounds and sensations of the crocodile ... only then will you have the true meaning of life.
fmarshall,
Definately agree. The MP3 Cd was just to listen to while the engine warmed up for 5 minutes before I pull it out of the dealer's lot. I just want to see what the Bose System I paid for sounds like. I already know what the engine sounds like. I turned the radio off after about 10 seconds on my test drive just to hear the engine. The sound of the engine was the highlight of my test drive.

I'm not saying do this, but heres some more info for anyone who has problems converting AAC or any other format to MP3.
There is some software on the web which can be found on
http://nch.com.au/switch/index.html
The switch software will allow you to drag and drop files and convert them to your desired format.
As regards to iTunes I ended-up making sure that all Imported files were always in high quality MP3 format so that I could save them to an MP3 CD more easily.
This can be done by going to the EDIT pulldown, then selecting 'Preferences' and then clicking on the 'Importing' tab and then choosing MP3 Encoder where it says 'Import Using'.
One thing I have noticed about the PCM is that you will also need to sub divide the CD so that each Album is in a seperate directory, otherwise all of your tracks will appear in one big possibly confusing list.
Having the Sub-directories will allow you to drill down, but the PCM will only allow you one level of sub-directories.
Hope this helps aswell as the other great advice you already have - and good luck, and enjoy the new car you just might find yourself forgetting all about the MP3's when you sit in the cockpit with all those new car smells and hear the sound of that roaring engine when you drive off with that superb Cayman handling that we've all been talking about .... enjoy!

Maybe I'm the only one that can't get it to work. I've done everything I could think of and it still doesn't work. I'll have to get that software jgota suggested. But other people have told me they did it easily. There's always some flag saying I can't convert my format or something like that. A friend of mine from FL said he did easily with Windows Media Audio.
My CD worked great today when I plopped it in after picking up my car. I did exactly as stated in this thread and my CD was divided by folders which were 'Albums' and then each Album had the track names in it. Everything worked out perfectly.
Shane.

Ok, I admit it, I'm a Mac guy... Anyway, the MP3 player works so well, I'm sorry I spent money ordering the 6 disc changer. I can fit the same amount of music on a singe MP3 disk as I'd had on burned CD-A format to maximize songs/disk -- all 10 of the original Van Halen CD's --> 6 burned CD's --> a single MP3 CD! Plus storage in the glove box for 2 more! To bad the CD Changer won't read MP3s... now I don't miss my 60 gb iPod someone stole from the OR so much...
