Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

As far as I was aware, the van was running a type4 motor ( the 4 cylinder 'Porsche' engine used in the 914's )
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was sure that Jamie said his van has an 3.2Ltr. motor (I presumed therefore it's air cooled) when he was on Top Gear as the star in a reasonbly priced car. However it has apparently been recently restored for his trip to Italy.
I have been reliabley informed it is a 2.4L Type 4 'porsche' 4 cylinder motor. 'Terry's Beetle Services' preped the bus for the trip.
I would not rely on what Jamie tells the press or what they print. Remember Jamie did not even know how to fill the oil and filled the breather box instead [

There was a VW hippy van at last years Brands Hatch which had a 3.2 squeezed in the back.
My mate's got a bog standard 1600 and that's an awful drive. Straight line stability is about as good as Charles Kennedy after lunch.
Hi all,
I have a 1957 Samba (one with all the windows) with a 2.4 Type 4 or if I am feeling posh, a 914 or 912 engine [

Mine has been fettled, and recently beat a MK1 Golf GTi downt he 1/4 mile at Santa Pod, complete with camping interior and bed. I have footage if anyone wants a laugh.
I believe Jamie's is a 6 cylinder engine, never seen it myself though.
Back to 996, I am picking a 2001 C4 from David Newton! Saw it in Trading Post and let me tell you it is absolutely mint, not to expensive considering and David is an absolute gent. I am picking it up tonight, I am like a kid in a toy shop at Christmas!

No it is certainly a 996 engine because he said he runs it on olive oil so that he can use the stuff leaking out of the RMS to fry the chips!!!![
