My car had the same type of system installed when I purchased but the install was no where near as slick as this one.

Hello all, I am re-posting my question with an attached video of the problem. Spoiler Porsche 2002 911 4S has blinking red lights and a clicking noise - no other warning lights come on in the car drives fine. The yellow light does stay on - and after 10 minutes the red lights start blinking and then turn off it�s troubling - Any ideas? It�s never happened before the the former owner had a aftermarket radar detector- so I don�t think it�s a radar detector. those two real lights look like original equipment.

Cannot speak to the yellow. But the red look (and sound in the video) like an integrated radar detector system. My car had the same type of system installed when I purchased but the install was no where near as slick as this one. I had two little "mounds" on the steering column with red lights; before I removed the system. I assume you are not original owner? You see these get installed a lot in states where radar detectors are illegal.

My 2002 911 4S doesn't have those lights either. I'd agree with the aftermarket radar install theory.

I agree with others, this is a custom installed radar detector. Seems like the K40 systems had an alert system similar to this. That little vent is were the factory put the microphone for the integrated cell phone. Have you looked on the front and rear of the car for sensors?

K40 radar had one installed in my M3 your is stealthy for sure nice look under front and rear bumpers for a small black box about the size of 2 packs of cigarettes that’s the detector
