I highly doubt a filter will change much with performance but I will need to change out mine soon. Any input from others on what works well in the S models?
Just use an OEM paper filter. All those high flow cloth filters or whatever are just marketing: if you look at the test data pressure drop across any filter in a stock engine is negligible, and those high flow filters perform poorly for filtration.
Link to some test data. You can compare the marketing claims to actual results.

At 400 SCFM the delta between the best oiled filter and the worst paper filter was 2" H20. That's 0.07 PSI, or 0.5% of atmospheric pressure. And the oiled filter filtered worse and loaded up faster.

- I used to be a huge open air filter guy on my BMW E30 (K&N), but have remained stock when it comes to P-cars. Sure, the K&N helped the E30 sound better, but I'm reverting back to stock literally today after 25 years in that car.
Definitely one of those things where I had been looking for inexpensive performance gains years ago. May make sense in an older BMW, but not so much in a P-car. The engineers have already done the work for you.
In addition to the listed ISO test, people who run oiled filters will usually see silicon in the UOA results. I saw this on my Mazda decades ago immediately after installing a K&N, and never went back to that style of filter again.
I do recall there was a brand of foam+oil filter that worked well back then, for filtration - I think it was Apexi? But I saw no performance difference on the car even with the K&N, so it made no sense to even try. As

said, the Porsche is already well tuned, so if a Mazda doesn't show a difference, I can't imagine the Porsche with the much larger filter would see any either. I stick to paper.
My attached writeup shows one alternative you might consider. I liked it well enough to continue with it for three years until I moved on to my current ride;

Seems to be hype and has been mostly over the years. I installed an intake on my Jaguar F Type R to open the sound of the supercharger, which it did but net nothing from performance and maybe even hindered it a bit. It was a PITA to install so it is staying on the Jaguar. Took more time installing that, then it did for the rotors and pad upgrade.
