Mine is a MY 2002, I changed the resistors last summer, but they don't look like that, mine fatter and green, the ones in the photo the earlier 'cigar' type resistor?

Suggestion

I assumed the resistor type changed with the 2002 face-lift, but maybe it's one of the seemingly random turbo parts on the C4S?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

The car has a two speed fan system. It’s likely that speed 1 isn’t working and this will be due a ballast resistor which chokes the voltage down to lower the fan speed. Fairly simple repair with Porsche parts. Speed 2 (fast) is probably fine, as it uses a different circuit. Kind Regards Lee Jones

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for reply,i take it that the resistor is built into fan, regards

POST 4Original post

No, it's a separate resistor. One on each side:

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 6Original post

Ref the resistors: Mine is a MY 2002, I changed the resistors last summer, but they don't look like that, mine fatter and green, the ones in the photo the earlier 'cigar' type resistor? The resistors cost about £200 for the pair and it turned into a big job as I had to remove the wheels, bumper, liners and both radiators/condensors to get access. None of the connectors were reusable so I needed to solder new connectors as well. I would do it again, but I'd allow 1/2 a day to do it. I believe that the cigar type resistors are easier access and cut in. I assumed the resistor type changed with the 2002 face-lift, but maybe it's one of the seemingly random turbo parts on the C4S? Hope that helps!
