Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have my eye on a 2001 C4 with about 58,000 miles from a non-Porsche (BMW) dealer. Other than the usual thing of having an inspection from an independent Porsche mechanic, any helpful household hints or issues with these cars? I plan to use it as a daily driver. Thanks...Steve 1967 911 Vintage Racer 1958 V.A.Y. Canada Class Sports Racer

POST 2Original post

car is pretty much bullet proof. I think Porsche inspect is $200

POST 3Original post

Can you look at the service records? Can you tell if its been painted(and if so why)? Its not going to have had much done, except probably fluid changes, brakes, tires, some interior touch up. Invoices from the dealer should be around. Few shops had the Porsche CDs and manuals to work on 996. Have you lifted it up and looked under the car- were the pans flawless? Its going to be a car that someone used and you will be able to see a little bit of how they treated it, eg, you can tell the difference between whethere it was a man or a woman. At that mileage - well
