Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Pelican Parts: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 1999 996 that I keep loosing coolant. I have pressure tested it and never see a leak anywhere. When I start it in the morning it seems to mis a bit then it's ok. I never see smoke when starting it though. If I start it in the morning and go and unscrew the cap I hear pressure being released. Think I need headgaskets?

POST 2Original post

Check coolant tank. Hairline cracks can still hold pressure to a point then it spits it out. I had to replace my tank with only 40k miles when I had my 996. Is coolant leaking from the driver side rear? Look under the engine and look for white color stains near the exhaust headers.. Looks like dried saltwater
