Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'rod, no chains there' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'rod, no chains there' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair strategy' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

So let's see the damage if the victim is a Rennlister and try to figure our a repair strategy to help him?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
32 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

30 seconds of googling tells me this is a 3.8 in a 997.
This car was also for sale (with the blown engine,

KrazyK, what are you going for here with this post?!
Man, KK you really don't get the "fun" part of the forum. Your thread/post is equivalent of a guy who throws up in the middle of the dance floor where a bunch of people are just having a good time. This guy sits by himself next to the wall, then walks to the middle of the floor where people are having fun...and throws up in the middle of them.
And you seem to enjoy doing this repeatedly, with what purpose man?
CEF MOF info can be helpful if there is a preventative strategy proposed ?
If it is done to irritate some ,that seems to work too.
So let's see the damage if the victim is a Rennlister and try to figure our a repair strategy to help him? Perhaps we can also try to understand what caused the failure of car that seems to be familiar to this Forum.
Nope, lost a #1 rod bearing. The rod cap always tries to exit at this location when that rod cap is tossed. There's not a chain in that region to cause that.
kKK Krusty K should be banned
Let's just call for a ban on this forum
He detracts from viewership and enjoyment of this forum enormously
My theory on him is that he's a kid trolling on here and the 996 was never his to begin with
Yuck - anyway I've put him on my ignore list - suggest you do the same to trolls like this
Oh. Snap.
Looks like Mr super duper expert doesn't know half as much as he thinks he does. Bet he can't even find the oil drain plug.
And it came from troll boy's object of obsession. That must really sting.
Any engine can blow up on the track, including a 12 million dollar F1 GP or a $200,000 sprint cup car with an $80,000 engine and a team of mechanics fawning over it 24/7. Or even a $500,000 Ferrari on a dyno. However my M96 engine has never blown. So to summarize, if you take your $5,000 Hyundai Accent to the track the engine might blow or not. If you take your 2MM Bugatti to the track the engine might blow or not. If you take your $138 teal blue Schwinn beach cruiser to the track your chain might break or it might not. That's everything you will ever need to know about tracking. YMMV.
It's all good! We had about 6" of snow at my house last night. The resorts got 8" - 12". I haven't been out skiing yet, but thinking about going this weekend.
The new truck is great! How's yours?
The problem with all of those other things you listed is that they having nothing in common with the M96/996, so KrazyK can't post them here in a lame-a$$ troll attempt.
Yup. Knowing what can go wrong with these cars is fantastic info.
Having some asshat constantly running around shrieking about it like some batsh*t-crazy psych ward patient get olds, though.
On a similiar note, why are you even on here when you don't even own a 996 or a Porsche for that matter and continue bashing the car? What do you expect to gain from this?
I hope you changed your plate as I'd imagine you've built up quite a bit of peeps that want to slash your tires if they saw your plates on a car.
3.8s fail all the time... Nothing makes them resilient, or special. The internals are the same, cams and ports are different. Larger bore size, same rods and rod bolts. The heavier(larger) Pistons make them the most prone to broken rod bolts.
KK: 3.8s never fail, must have been the chain. Guess the 3.8 is **** too.
JR: It was the rod, no chains there.
KK: Shut up (to others) I never claimed to know the failure (please please please don't look at my first post), but there are 2 chains (pretty please don't look at JR's post where he said the chain isn't near the damaged location). I'm just shocked because 3.8s never fail.
JR: 3.8s fail just as much as the others, why would you think otherwise since it's the same design?
Have I summed this stupid thread up correctly? Is KK next going to accuse Jake of not knowing where the drain plug is or that he wouldn't know a socket from a box wrench?
WTF are we talking about a M97 in the 996 forum for anyway?
