Still working on the best way to get more horse power. I am talking w/ 9ff about their complete motor upgrade packages. The 380hp motorcomes complete w/ upgraded clutch, intake, exhaust, andECU. They are quoting me figures in the mid 20's range for the big motor, outright, w/out a core exchange.
Arethere any individuals out there that would like one of these power pacs too. Maybe I can get a better price on more than one package being purchased at a time.

I plan to upgrade next year and see what other optionsbecome available. Please keep posting these performance upgrades as they come available. What about exhaust changes?

RE: the 3.8 engine swap:
We know the Carrera S intake is taller than the Cayman so something is going to have to be done to the engine cover. Afterthe enginegoes in, the electronics will be sorted out. I'm betting it will run on the stock computer. Porsche for the last several years has been selling 2-3 computers for the ALL the cars. We think the programs are all loaded in the brain and when the brain sees a certain sensor or sees a certain value it will change to that 'profile'.

The Ruf 3.8 swap is near $40K. The Ruf 3.4 Supercharger (80HP) is about $22K. I like the new photos of the techart Cayman S too. They really solved the sideview visual situation. I just wonder what the effects are on Handling now that it's so low. Check it out...

I think just buying a GT3 makes more sense for the same or less money (unless you can't live with the rear-engined handling). You get better suspension, brakes, gearbox (with LSD) and a race-ready dry-sump motor...
The GT3 is a different ride quality than the Cayman, and a few more bucks, too. I'm not sure, but I think it's gonna be around $120K. I agree with Grant about the cost of a "Cayman GT"... more than GT3 money, with less resale value than a GT3. I don't like the whole concept of the 911's big butt foundation being based on a Volkswagon. Probably have to keep my mods confined to springs and spacers. After three years, and many miles, perhaps a new 3.8 motor could be rationalized? I'm pretty certain that any wild 20 HP gains made with an ECM flash are phooey.
