Alan came out and took the damaged piece off (paint underneath not damaged but invinca-shield tore slightly) and replaced the piece with a new one.
Leading evidence: 'Replace piece' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Best to call him directly and ask, but I know he uses Invinca-Shield, Starshield, and X-Pel patterns to name a few.

It is the same stuff they use on cars from the factory.

His email told me that he uses a product from 3M which is approved by all major auto manufacturers.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Would there be any people in the California Area interested in putting together an install party to have clear bras installed??? I was referred to Alan Seligman. I have been told his work is some of the best. His info shows that the cost is approx. $750 plus travel costs. He travels from Florida. If not and can supply information about an installer, let me know.
We had Alan here for an install party in July, and I think he's coming back in October to do another set of cars, but of course that's before the Cayman comes out. Certainly once the car is out you'll be able to get 4 or 5 people together to make it viable to fly him in for an install party. Did he have any idea which company would have a pattern for the Cayman first???
Best to call him directly and ask, but I know he uses Invinca-Shield, Starshield, and X-Pel patterns to name a few. He's pretty agnostic but will tell you what he thinks of each kit and materials based on experience.

Yes the material is from 3M, but difference is the pattern (Xpel, Invinca-shield, Starshield, etc.) and your installer. There is material made by other companies but 3M has the most history in the industry.
There is another thread that discusses his skill, which seems to be beyond reproach. I'd be down for an install party where he's invited. I'm not %100 sure I want one, but I'd come to take a look and maybe get one...
I'm in Laguna Hills, Ca....

Confused, I'd suggest Victoria Secret.
Any problems with washing or waxing with the clear bra? Also can you still go through a car wash with the clear bra? It seems to me you would have some surface scratches on the rest of the car and a perfect paint job underneath the clear bra. That being said and the fact I am not interested right now, anyone in Florida interested in an install party?
You can go through a car wash with a clear bra, but I would never go through a car wash that was harsh enough to be ripping something off my paint, in other words no whirling stiff plastic brushes, that's going to scratch your paint too. I wash/wax/dry by hand so damaging the clear bra is not an issue.
Based on the wear and tear of existing vehicles, I would limit Invinca-shield installation to the front bumper. I occasionally get a rock-paint chip on the hood but these can be pretty easily repaired with careful application of touch-up paint and some elbow grease. The front bumper is another matter. Over time, my front bumper gets an almost sand-blasted affect. Invinca-shield says:
Q.
Can it be removed?
A.
Yes, although INVINCA-SHIELD is designed to provide permanent protection for your vehicle, it may be removed with ease without any damage to the paint.
Does anyone any experience removing one of these shields after one or two years?

mpollard,
I had a 944 muffler bolt fly up and hit the nose of my C4S on the track about a year after my Invinca-shield was installed. Alan came out and took the damaged piece off (paint underneath not damaged but invinca-shield tore slightly) and replaced the piece with a new one. It takes some pulling to take it off and once you take a piece off it can never be put back on, taking it off means either you don't want it anymore or you are replacing it with a new piece.
I would disagree about the hood, I want the protection on the entire front bumper and hood and mirrors and possibly other places as well! My prior installations on the hood have saved numerous rock chips.
Ken, Thanks for the real world experience.Good to know that it can be removed and then replaced. And, how would you say this Invinca-Shield affects the appearance of the car, especially after 12 months of exposure to the elements? I assume that the Invinca-shield prevents oxidation of the paint too. Sounds like the entire care should have Invinca-shield
