Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So I discovered that the emergency cable had become disconnected .Someone had tried to do something with the mechanism, there is a little sort of shim/cover over the mechanism which keeps everything in place that was missing and also the grommets holding emergency cable and the normal cable in place were missing.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect .someone had tried' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect .someone had tried' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have used some small cable ties to hold the two cables in position not a very good fix I know.

Did you use the emergency release for the engine cover?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It’s the correct cable I traced it back to the opener from under the car.
I saw a post somewhere and the cable attached from the left passenger side but that cannot be correct as the cable is threaded through a small hole on its way towards the wheel arch. It will not budge.
Is your frunk open and you're just trying the cable or are you locked out the frunk?
If your locked out and trying to get in, get someone to lightly press on the hood where the badge is to take some of the tension off the lock whilst you try pulling the cable.......or just open up the engine cover instead and put a charge in to the battery.
If you still can't get in the frunk you can try the engine cover emergency release, maybe you'll have more luck with that, then connect a battery in there to power up the car
Thanks guys, I managed to open it but connected another battery to the positive terminal in the engine bay.
On inspecting the cable, I can see where it goes into the mechanism, but it will not move.
So I discovered that the emergency cable had become disconnected .Someone had tried to do something with the mechanism, there is a little sort of shim/cover over the mechanism which keeps everything in place that was missing and also the grommets holding emergency cable and the normal cable in place were missing. I'm surprised that the normal cable had not come out as well that would've been a problem. I have used some small cable ties to hold the two cables in position not a very good fix I know. Does anybody know where I could get a replacement part or even the part number?
