Suggestion

I would be wary of claims that high they usually mean in combo with Intake/headers/exhaust ask him for Dyno sheet for the tested car and what other mods are on the dyno'd car!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know if a Plenum Throttle Body mod really ads 20hp? I found one on ebay, and the seller (Einmalig) states over 20hp gains. Any input would be appreciated. I included the link below: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270205151013&rd=1 Thx

I would be wary of claims that high they usually mean in combo with Intake/headers/exhaust ask him for Dyno sheet for the tested car and what other mods are on the dyno'd car! stand alone 6-7 hp max

POST 4Original post

That's a STOCK plenum.....the one most guys are goiing for is the RSS Plenum. Do a Google search on RSS Plenum and you can get to the company website. Some of the 996 guys swear it gave them better performance in the 4000-6000 rpm range. Mfletch ran some tests using a GTek and dropped almost a second off his 0-60 time.....others have posted dyno sheets showing an increase. The battle rages on with guys from both sides giving their yea or no. In small print....(I bought one too for my 99...and am one of the unscientific folks who think it provided some benefit)

there's one born everyday......... C'mon do you really think the Porsche engineers left 20 hp out of their engines by not using the right intake plenum? A non-moving static piece that would cost hardly anything to mass produce? Check out how much the factory power packages cost, about 20 grand I think to get like 40 hp. They have to make all kinds of internal mods to get there, not just bolt on a few 'trick' pieces. The factory has been doing this awhile, I think if it were possible to get 20 hp that easy, any car manufacturer would do it. As for guys who claim it works, I'm skeptical. Even in medicine placebos work about 20% of the time for all kinds of results; pain relief, nausea, improved joint motion, increased breath volume, etc
