I got into a Cobalt Blue 996 4S. The paint job was well done. However, it didn't feel like actual metal.

keithfox, You want to talk to Eric of Bumper Plugs, he will get you all the info you need. The console I got from them was the same exact Porsche part that Porsche puts in the Cayman but instead of being painted by Porsche it was painted by Bumper Plugs for less than 1/2 the cost. Eric is going to be painting some other parts for me shortly as well. I can't speak for your dealer's paint work, but I would find it hard to believe that it could be better than Eric's. You thought it was metal it was so shiny! www.bumperplugs.com
