R8 - I looked at that cheap V10 on eBay then my dad sent me a video on YouTube that was posted by reperformance where they pointed these bits out and it turns out it was the same car so steered well clear of that one.

I'd probably have a look on Companies House at RSR Porscha if I were you, they might be the best place in the world, but their filling history looks a bit up and down.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hi all, I’m going to look at this car hopefully on the weekend but the garage has advised that they did not receive all the invoices due to gdpr I believe, so my question is does anyone know this car and what work has been done.
Thank you everyone for all of your help.

if they are pulling the GDPR nonsense, then walk away
a turbo with no paperwork needs to be priced accordingly or will be a disaster waiting to happen
The GDPR position
""While a Car Dealer does not have an obligation arising from the GDPR to disclose the service history of a vehicle, the GDPR does not specifically prohibit the disclosure of such information either. It is important not to overinterpret the GDPR in a way that prevents the new owner of a vehicle from accessing essential information regarding the vehicle,
A dealer wouldn’t be passing on random details, just those in relation to the car’s history which a previous owner has made available. Using the Legitimate Interest Assessment (LIA):, it is fine to hand over documents about a car’s history to a new owner. Car Dealers wanting to follow this approach should add a sentence to reflect this processing usage in their Privacy Notice. :
“If documents are handed over with a part exchange or a vehicle brought into stock from elsewhere we will keep these documents with the vehicle to help evidence the history of the vehicle. This is a legitimate interest not only for us and any new owner but for the wider market in regard to fraud prevention and safety.""
With the number of these on the market maybe you can source one with full history but then that comes back to what’s the asking price? And is the missing documentation reflected in that price
You could get a PPI done by someone who really knows what they're doing, but an owner of a 996 Turbo who doesn't want to hand over it's history has surely got something to hide. I've bought the ex-cars of famous people and their address and everything is there to see.
I've only ever had it once when I bought a Defender that was owned by a famous footballer and they wouldn't hand over anything with his details on, but I wasn't bothered, I think it was more about his ego than him believing that anyone would actually go to the trouble of buying a car just to get his address. My details were restricted at one point because of the job I did, but I sold cars without worrying about it, it's highly unlikely anyone would go to that much trouble, a private detective is cheaper.
I'd give that one a miss.
Thank you for all of your comments. It’s around 31k and done 70k miles so potentially a bargain?
Also has anyone dealt with a company called RSR PORSCHA LTD as they done the last 2 services so I was going to pick their brains about how the car is and has been looked after but it looks like they may have gone under now so there’s no contact details for them. Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate all the help.
OP, when you say that, it has no history, do you mean it has no invoices for previous work carried out or no service book? It’s not that unusual for use cars to come into dealers stock without the actual paperwork of the service history i.e. the invoices from the work being done or parts or tires, previous MOT is et cetera but it is more unusual for a car without even a service book.
I'd probably have a look on Companies House at RSR Porscha if I were you, they might be the best place in the world, but their filling history looks a bit up and down.
As above, do you have zero history and no service book? Or gaps?
Literally no service history at all would make me walk away, who does that, no one has a 911 Turbo and throws all their paperwork away - especially Porsche owners, we're the most pedantic people on the planet.
A part service history with MOTs would make me less worried but I'm like a bloodhound with this stuff and I've found very well known and reputable places selling clocked/crashed cars and claiming no service history so they're selling it in good faith as a decent car - but they're not that stupid and neither am I.
At the very least I'd get a proper PPI with someone who really knows what they're doing, I bought my 997 C2S with service gaps but I knew exactly what I was looking at, with my 997 GT3RS and 930 I wanted the inside leg measurement of every owner - unless you're rich and can afford to throw £31k out and shrug it off if the car ends up being a total write-off then fair enough, but it happens, some poor bloke paid about that for an R8 recently and upon inspection after the sale it was a write-off with cracked chassis.
I might be over reacting, but if it saves you a nightmare then it's worth a bit more digging.
Hi, I have done exactly that and it states that they are active but you cannot contact them which is weird.
I think I wrote it wrong, it comes with all the booklets and service book with stamps (full service) but no actual invoices.
I’m the same as you, my old 997 carrera s had everything with it, I even went to the paint shop and took photos of the car in prep and after then printed them off to keep with the history.
R8 - I looked at that cheap V10 on eBay then my dad sent me a video on YouTube that was posted by reperformance where they pointed these bits out and it turns out it was the same car so steered well clear of that one.
Thank you everyone for your help/input. After reading it’s normal not to have the invoices aslong as the service book is there (which it is) I paid the deposit and it will be ready for collection after 19th December.
It’s now time to look for a Bluetooth radio and cd storage delete.
Are you buying it from RSR Porscha Ltd or RSR Independent LTD, they're two different companies, the latter has a website and apparently owned by people who are known in Porsche circles, the former does not.
RSR Porscha LTD seem to be in financial disarray, whereas RSR Independent LTD have much better financial records, although only a few grand in the bank.
Just make sure you're clear about who you are buying it off and who owns the car and if it's being sold on sale or return. This type of issue has previously resulted in very well documented problems if they don't pay the owner once it's sold. Google Gmund.
Again I'm not saying it will happen, I don't know these people, but some due diligence now could save you a lot of pain.
I’d say it’s completely the opposite with invoices. As a group I think you’ll find most owners keep all their invoices with the very odd one maybe not as bothered and maybe throws away the invoice for some new tyres but that should still leave a big stack of paperwork.
Are you buying it without a ppi? Because if you have no invoice trail how do you know what’s been invested in it? A service stamp in the book and preventative maintenance are two different things
No, it’s from a company
no, it’s being bough from Kneeton hill automotive garage, rsr’s only involvement is the last 2 services. Prior to this they were all Porsche dealer services so I am hoping to call them to see if they can give me any paperwork first prior services.
Yep, I’m the same also but being bought from a garage (Kneeton hill automotive) means it comes with a ppi, major service with belts, fluids and plugs and warranty.
I have always kept paperwork for even the minor works so I will start my own service file. There were 2 services done by rsr but prior to that they were all Porsche garages so I was hoping that I can get some sort of paperwork from Porsche too.
