on my C4S I'm thinking of adding some white LED daytime running lights in the front air scoops.

I simply used the wires of the DRL to find the switched wires before tapping into them..

So either I could run a wire up to the CD changer to find a key-on 12v hot, or I tie them into the parking light bulb on one of the headlights, but that'd be a harder loom.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

on my C4S I'm thinking of adding some white LED daytime running lights in the front air scoops. So either I could run a wire up to the CD changer to find a key-on 12v hot, or I tie them into the parking light bulb on one of the headlights, but that'd be a harder loom. Maybe just run a wire up to the fuse box in drivers footwell? Also, same questions on where to get a Ignition on Power source in Engine Compartment? It's going to power some new LED lighting. thanks, I'm not wanting to hack up my wire looms. and want to eliminate this before I even start. >

POST 2Original post

I put DR Lights on mine. It's simple to find the source which comes on with the ignition switch. Down by your right foot there is a pull off triangular panel. In there is a hanging plug with four wires in it. 2 wires are on constantly and the other 2 come on with the ignition. Those are the ones you link directly via the firewall through the frunk and out or down to your DRLs. Simply link the two wires to one light and onto the other in parallel. Mine are stick on DRLS. If I had my time to do again I would have stuck them UNDER the lip and not on top. They look really cool BTW. Total cost. Cheapo lights 2 for $10 but very effective. BTW I use the same pickup point for my radar detector and my GPS. They all come on with the ignition switch. I have the latest Garmin GPS with the built in camera. Post #14 of this page shows what the plug looks like. I simply used the wires of the DRL to find the switched wires before tapping into them..

POST 3Original post

In the 987 models there is key-on power to the windshield washer reservoir heater, and a common LED spar mod has instructions to tie into that source. The benefit is that you don't have to run power through the firewall as would be necessary if you tapped the fuse block in the driver's footwell. I don't know whether this heater power supply applies to the reservoir of 986 or 996 era vehicles though.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

excellent replies, thanks all. here are the LED light bars I'm using. super bright, decent lenses for each LED reflector. http://us.banggood.com/Wholesale-War...Usa-34887.html and hell for $6 a pair free shipping, why not try 'em. On the C4S the front end grills allow you to tuck them back recessed in further, and yeah I was planning on putting them on the underside 2nd bar down from the top they fit perfect. Double side foam sticky tape is included.
