Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone advise how to upgrade my 996 (03) to plug an i pod in to it? Thank you Robert

POST 2Original post

The cheapest option is to use the Aux input and install in a jack socket. Mine is a 3.4 so have the earlier centre dash. I know many others have upgraded their units and should searchable. This guy shows you how https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNCgWnQ3r8o Most of the tools required can be bought for a few quid.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you! Look like a neat, cheap and (relatively) simple solution Robert

POST 4Original post

I'm not so sure that will work on an '03 car, which has fibre optic connections. It will also depend on whether you have PCM or radio..

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard Not sure what a PCM is but it has a sat nav etc radio in one (if that makes sense!) Rob

POST 6Original post

Sounds like you have PCM 2.0. Porsche Communication Management - or SatNav in other words. If you also have an amplifier (Bose or Harman option codes 680 or 490) then you will need an interface for the fibre optic system - something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112500849717 On the slim chance you don't have an amp, you could probably fit a Parrot unit. The option codes are listed on the sticker in the Maintenance Book, or on the sticker on the underside of the front compartment lid.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
