I think there will be a a decent selection of lightly used examples of new turbo S's on the market by middle of next year and I'm certain there will be a discount from list.

Bringing in c-list Hollywood actors and YT engineering creators to launch the halo car of the brand doesn’t fill me with confidence.

I am thinking about one but I’m just struggling to think of how often will I be able to use its performance on the road (applicable to most cars of this sort these days) and also the price for what is a very mediocre interior .

So with the imminent release of details regarding the new Turbo, just wondering who’s getting one and what’s their thoughts are on it going forward?
I’ve had a deposit for one at my local OPC for more than 3 years now, but it’s been total radio silence from them. (Am I surprised lol)

I've got a slot for one.
Surprised you've put a deposit down, because a deposit is only required when the car is physically available.
If you look at price hikes for 992.2 GTS with T-Hybrid tech, there is no doubt the new Turbo/Turbo S with T-Hybrid tech will take a similar % price jump. Porsche will charge handsomely for the performance increase and tech development cost.
I have heard rumours of a wingless Turbo with 2WD, a bit like a Turbo S touring - but I can’t work out where that fits in the current range, as it muddies the water between Turbo and GTS
Is everyone expecting this to be quicker off the line than the equivalent Ferrari/Lambo (296/Tem)?
They normally are, so wondering if the delay in releasing details is down to some performance tuning.
I’m pretty sure it’s going to be £200k otr with a few basic options.
So far not a lot of takers on here, I presume final spec and price might see a few more pop up.
Any of you going to trade up from the .1version?

£200k minimum I'd say.
Never had a Turbo S, looking forward to it.

The GT3 with a decent spec is now £200K so I reckon it’ll be nearer to £220K base and with a good spec being £250K
Having just sold my Gen 1 992 turboS and on the brink of getting a Touring, I might leave it 12 months…

Hmmm £250k will be an interesting figure, would make someone trading in their 992.1 model, a six figure upgrade!!

congrats, you'll love it ! nothing like a Turbo S imo
Given current turbo s were easily £200k without going mad on options it must be £250k ish I would imagine.
The issue to me is they are great cars. They are reliable cars. They are fast cars. The add daily drivers and track cars combined. But .... they lack a sense of occasion - and to be clear the cars with a sense of occasion don't have the reliability etc. - but when you are on £250k territory you have lots of great options.
On list for a 992.2 Turbo (rumour is it's non-hybrid), looking like 560-600bhp. Also rumour of a Turbo Touring model..
We will know next Sunday what the story is.
I really don't want an S - away to much power and indeed ££££

I agree it doesn’t have that sense of occasion a Ferrari/aston etc has but it is not devoid of it , the Turbo badge does have some weight .

I'd read all my life about turbo's having no sense of occasion but when I finally got to drive one that's not how it felt to me tbh!

Yes exactly, I find that the ease of driving them quick on the road, as fulfilling as the work you’d have to put in to a GT3 just to keep up!
Opposite ends of the performance spectrum but equally satisfying if you’re in that mood imo..

Would it really be £100K 'better' than the gen 1, for example this one

Probably not, but that is the case most times.
That one does look very nice
Mmm not sure. Not been interested in the GTS hybrid, so not massively excited about this now it’s out there?
More interested to see what happens to 992.1 Turbos.
I think the 992.1 Turbo S will drop.
The form factor on the new car is not much different (bar the fake vents at the rear - I pathologically hate fake vents), but the performance is on another level.
For a typical Turbo purchaser, performance and comfort are the key. This delivers in spades. This isn’t the same as the rumoured GT3 RS replacement having a T-hybrid. That will probably prop up NA GT3RS values, as the core proposition has changed.

I think 992.1 values may well strengthen. New car is 60 BHP up on old car but weights circa 80KG's more. if price to change is 100K then I think the delta is too big for what you are getting.

Possibly, but the torque band is significantly wider, and we know in a Turbo, for everyday driving, that’s what counts. The new car is significantly quicker than the old car by every measure. I agree the price to change is significant, but if you have the money for a Turbo S in the first place, you may not lose too much sleep over 100k.

That is true re the torque band. That said, I've never got out of my 992.1 and though "umm, that needs more toque!". I think we're at a point now where the cost to move to the .2 has made most of us stop and think. I thought the same when offered a .2 touring. I didn't see the price to change out of my .1 as worthwhile for the benefit of the new car. I think there will be a a decent selection of lightly used examples of new turbo S's on the market by middle of next year and I'm certain there will be a discount from list.

That is nice too. The Pasha heritage pack with the 930 extras is the interior I prefer.

And I love a Turbo S.
But a 1/4 of a million pounds?
Just did a spec how I would like it in Germany (guards red, the outside design pack, bucket seats, black calipers, some other minor stuff) and it is a 300k euro car now (271 base). That is a lot of money….

Base price in Switzerland is CHF 312k - a good 50k euro higher than in Germany...

I had a falafel and fries in Zug a couple of days ago, CHF 28.50 - that country is just too expensive for me
I'm not a fan of the vertical slats or the overall design of the front bumper for the 992.2 GTS but the front bumper on the Turbo S seems to work. I've had a deposit on the new GTS since May 2024 but after seeing the Turbo S, I couldn't get the GTS simply because of the design.
Does anyone know whether there will be a standard Turbo variant?
Hmmm, a lot of tech, weight and cost for a slight improvement in performance (Porsches figures).
However I’m looking fwd to the reviews and a test drive before I decide..
Also, unfortunately the dealer experience doesn’t match other marques in the £200k plus bracket, and that’s a big factor for me when choosing.

Any idea if front lift is essential for these to retain value?
Last one I had didn't ( hasn't got huge overhangs IMO so wasn't an issue) but it sold during the covid boom so potentially nothing really mattered.
I don't think they are a £100k over list car at all, there is plenty availability on anything and everything I really do think that ship has pretty much sailed.

not sure how much the .1 will go up. prices have already gone up over last 6-8 months, as people knew the .2 was going to be a silly price. good examples are up around 20-25k on what they were getting 12 months ago

there will be cars available at discount by december. pre specced cars are in build now. they wont be flying out of the opc's so can see decent discounts by mid december to shift a few to try and improve figures for the end of the year.
knew quite a few people who had deposits on them since 22/23, all of whom have asked for refunds over past few months.

lift isnt going to make too much difference on the 10's of thousands you will lose buying a new one

It s getting into a rarified atmosphere at a minimum entry price of £220ish with a fairly sensible spec. That puts you up against McLaren 750S etc, which has far greater road presence. There are a lot of exotic options at that price, which arguably wasn't the case with previous gen Turbos; part of what made them desirable - £ per BHP etc.
mclaren gets too much attention on the roads imo
the turbo s is the ultimate daily driver imo
When I enquired about a gen 1 a few years back I was told they have less allocations than they have for gt3s and if I want one it will be at least a 12 month wait , when I said that’s no interest to me I got told to wait there while he speaks to sales manager and then magically they found three ‘cancelled orders’ that I could have within 2 months all with discounts .
One of the few Porsche's that seems to look best in the basic black or white.
Tried a few more "exotic" colours on the configure and nothing really worked.
I'll save you the phonecall cost.
I'm sure they'll call when the markets flooded with them and just a day left to get the aero kit like last time;)
Wanted to keep the 720 for a bit longer anyhow.

I, also, received a call. Have been considering a GT3 Touring as my next purchase but, on balance, the Turbo/ Turbo S looks a better car for me. The price may put off the flippers which might create a better resell market in the future, which is a big plus for me. The 992.1 Turbo S was overpriced as a result of these actions and I am sure that many current owners might get their finger burned when they come to re- sell
My Touring should be here next month, refused an allocation in the past but seeing as it's a model I've not had thought I'd give it a try.

Seems that 992.1 Turbo S first then Turbo 4 months later. OPC keeping cards close to their chest, I have deposit paid and on list of a Turbo - but is really going to come?

To be clear I have one. It is an amazing car. When I see xx car has been released with this amazing performance I think errr mine already does that and it had a 2 year service interval. The others however have gull wing doors etc etc but I am sure are a pain in the ass to own which I can't be doing with. 3 year Porsche warrenty is £2850. Cheap for a lot of peace of mind.

There was some talk (on PH) of a 2WD manual turbo a la 992 Sport Classic. Who knows. What I can say from experience is the SC is an engaging car to drive, so it might be a niche they replicate.

Not with the new Turbo S engine….not compatible with a manual box (GTS is PDK only)

992.2 Turbo ICE (maybe circa 600bhp), 4WD and PDK would be right up my street. On the look out for 992.1 Turbo S, but will wait a little longer
There are 101 for sale on AT! it can't be that hard!
I am thinking about one but I’m just struggling to think of how often will I be able to use its performance on the road (applicable to most cars of this sort these days) and also the price for what is a very mediocre interior .
indeed! I have just bought a GT4 as an 'in-betweener' and totally loving it. My OPC has now a lot or people wanting a 992.2 Turbo (non-s), hoping either ICE only or indeed in touring guise. I kept my deposit in, lets see what happens.
The reviews are raving about how good it is, and that is seriously moves the car on more, both in performance, but also in comfort at normal speeds.
Clearly people will never/rarely use its performance as is the case with most of the 992 range these days, and other similar cars from other marques.

Shame the front is so ugly.
It would be interesting to see the size (and weight) comparison between the latest Turbo and the original 911.
With those teeth, it looks like it could eat it for breakfast

I've never liked the looks of a Turbo since the introduction of the 991 and those front slats are a frigging terrible solution but...
I kind of think RS Guy has made the most of that. Chintzy wheels apart and without the front plate (which I disagree with strongly so that won't count) I think that looks a bit of alright!

The front may not be the best but it's definitely a step up from the 992.2 GTS. To my eyes the Turbo flows a lot better than the GTS.

I do admit the front view isn't the best, but the side looks great IMV
That's a good looking car.
I watched the Carwow video on it, swiftly followed by the Chris Harris one. The carwow one was informative as usual but the filming quality wasn't great, I know they were held up at the airport so had to film a bit at night but when you watch the Chris Harris video immediately after, the difference is glaring - Harris' one looks like it was filmed by Denis Villeneuve.
Anyhow - the car looks and sounds incredible - the Turbo 911s were never slow, especially in the most recent iteration, but this new one seems to have moved the whole game into another league with the hybrid system all but eliminating any kind of lag and giving that instant response you get with the likes of an EV. Carwow dynoed theirs also and found it didn't make 711bp, but 725bhp.

Vast improvement on the front view. No offense intended but performance apart, I just can't get into the look of this new model.

My spec, delivery Q3 2026. Is the Burmeister really worth having over the Bose system ? I never really listen to music in a 911

Has anyone managed to get any discount of any kind on the 992.2 Turbo S? I’m interested. I hear there are 5% discounts on the GTS if spec’ing the car yourself (10% on stock sat in the showroom). Am wondering if it might be worth waiting to see what the take up is for the Turbo S.

Going by the massive interest in the car and the limited supply, I'd say zero IMV
Paid full price for my Turbo S order.
