I just noticed that my new Carplay head unit display flickers when I turn the headlights on ... any ideas where I should start looking to diagnose this? Headlight switch? earthing? Connectors on head unit all seem secure.

The head unit wiring has a +12v 'lights on' input so that (if your stereo has it) the controls light up when you switch your lights on, I'd be checking that. It should come on with the side lights as well as the headlights. Is the stereo flickering when you put sides on too? Also check its the same with engine running and not running but ignition on.

Yeah, it’ll be easy as I have a proper adapter from Dynamic Sounds, and I know the wire is grey/blue

Well, that was easy. Just turned off the ‘auto brightness’ on the head unit which was clearly fighting with the car!
