Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So, I've made the move from my Y reg 986 S, which I've had from new, to an '02 996 C4S. Whilst I never took an sh*t from anyone about the Boxster not being a "real" Porsche (the handling was just perfect), I have to say the 996 is something else . I LOVE the way it looks, the power is fantastic, and it has PSE! If you have a 4S without PSE - go out and get it fitted - you'll find yourself out searching for tunnels to drive though. The car was a little "tired" when I got it - it's got 50K miles on the clock and although Camtune had cleaned it up pretty well, it needed a little extra. So, after much reading on this and other forums, I turned to Paul from Miracledetail. He did what perhaps only he can do and bought it back into its prime. Outside, it looks great. Inside, the difference is huge. I think Paul got a little carried away (I'm not sure that the brake calipers needed waxing with Zymol Royale, which is £5,600 a pot) but the whole thing looks great. Take a look at it on Paul's site - http://www.miracledetail.co.uk/auto-detailing-car-new.html?carID=126 . By the way, PCGB members get a 15% discount with Paul.

POST 2Original post

Congratulations, it looks a fabulous car enjoy.

POST 4Original post

Same jump as me - haven't looked back! Paul is great. I've been using him for the last few years. Total professional and top service.

POST 5Original post

Could I just ask with you making this jump recently and your 986 still fresh in your mind, is the clutch any heavier on the 996 I drove a 986 for the first time this week and the clutch on the Boxster was effortless. I got back in my car and it felt very heavy. I'd really apreciate your coments. Thanks, Anthony.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmmm - I can't say I noticed any real difference between the C4S and the 986 re: the clutch. Certainly no huge difference. I'll concentrate on it in the morning - see if I feel anything different.

POST 7Original post

Although there was a gap between my 986S and the 996 I don't recall any differences in the clutch.

POST 8Original post

Thanks alot Mike, my clutch is very heavy I don't know what that means but I'll get it checked out now. Thanks again, Ant.

POST 9Original post

Heavy clutch most likely means it's on it's last legs. Since I've had a new one fitted, mine is pretty light and was very heavy before. Also the biting point is now no longer in the last 1/2 inch of travel.
