Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Personally (and I've never owned a 996 Turbo) I would have never considered an Tip in my younger years, but now it comes down to how I'm going to use the car.
Leading evidence: 'Use car' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). If it's a toy that will be used as and when I want for fun drives then I'll always opt for a manual, if it is something that I plan to use more frequently in a mix of conditions then I'd be open to a Tip.

The only problem with that could be lack of use sometimes doesn’t guarantee that you won’t need to spend money.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, hope you’re all enjoying your weekends. I’m looking to buy a low milage 996 turbo, can be Tiptronic or Manual. Budget is good, would much rather spend and get a well kept example that try for a bargain and spend the difference ++ trying to put one right. Could anyone offer any advice on where to find? Ideally black, silver or grey. Open to other colours potentially, taste thing there after I guess. Looking for sub 30k miles. Would also appreciate guidance on what seems a fair price, as I mentioned happy to spend the right amount but not looking to line someone’s pockets and sour the experience.
Hi and welcome back
You make a great choice in the Turbo as they are brilliant cars and you might even find one with the low mileage you ask for sub 30k. The only problem with that could be lack of use sometimes doesn’t guarantee that you won’t need to spend money. Paragon sold one recently with 17k on the clock so they are out there the only downside was the price at £65k but they’d be a good place to keep an eye on as they do get some fantastic cars in and do offer up a great warranty.
I was going to suggest Paragon too, they’re sold out of turbos / cars at the minute but they also just sold a 996 turbo manual with 35k miles for £53k. Hopefully those two examples will give you a sense of price point for a very well sorted 996 turbo.
I've got one
It's 2005 Basalt Black with Boxster Red/Carbon interior. It's immaculate and needs nothing , drives like a new car.
Mileage is just under 16k
I have a lift so could get it up on that for a more thorough inspection. It's in an insulated garage just now but I could get it out for some photos.
I'm contemplating selling and was going to get in touch with Paragon tomorrow.
I bought mine, 20k miles, manual, aero kit, 6 months ago, through an Indy, it was £50k, seemed a bit top endy, but I got a decent trade in on my 993, so not too painful.
Thank you Marty, glad to be back. When going as high as 65k, is there a valid question as to whether a 991 under extended warranty could be wiser? (Can’t see any under warranty at this price at the moment, enquired on one a couple of months ago but was in a light blue/silver that wasn’t to my taste £63k asking price)
They do help, thanks David. What might you all think of the current stock of Tiptronics available on autotrader? Would I be wiser to wait for the right manual?
I had a beauty with less than 35 k miles..like a new car in every respect. As long as it has be looked after properly they are amazing value nowadays.
Old colonel cars have a lovely silver tip just come into stock with 27k miles. It’s placed at 44k but he’s always biddable..Ive bought and sold with him numerous times. Very genuine dealer of sorted cars.
It’s on their instagram but not on the website yet.

Everyone feels differently in the manual vs Tip debate. Personally (and I've never owned a 996 Turbo) I would have never considered an Tip in my younger years, but now it comes down to how I'm going to use the car. If it's a toy that will be used as and when I want for fun drives then I'll always opt for a manual, if it is something that I plan to use more frequently in a mix of conditions then I'd be open to a Tip.
The other consideration, if it's important to you, is cost and resale values. Manuals are often the more desirable option, so you may be in a better position further down the line if value / selling is on the cards. The flip side is that the manuals seem to be selling for nearly £10k more than the Tips.
