Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have two other cars, both equipped with nav, one a Lexus nav unit, and the other was a custom installed unit.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I just purchased my Cayman, and it has the standard Navigation. I have two other cars, both equipped with nav, one a Lexus nav unit, and the other was a custom installed unit. The other two units will drop you directly in front of your destination, saying things like, 'Your destination is ahead on the right'. When they say that, you are usually fifty feet away. This nav unit will tell you its done, and you may just be in the neighborhood. By that I mean you might be two thousand feet from the target. Has anyone else experienced this one? Anything that can be done?

POST 2Original post

My 996 did the same thing. After 4 trips to the dealer I gave up and didn't order nav on the Cayman. I have a Garmin that I use for business travel and it is excellant.

POST 3Original post

happened to me the first time I used it. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/sad_smile.gif

POST 4Original post

Mine says something like 'In 300 meters, you will reach your destination'... or something along those lines. I think what the lady says depends on how the DVD was programed and I guess might differ from region to region. Not too sure though. Zuksh

POST 5Original post

When I have used the Navigation, it has generally had 200+ feet granularity. I would expect it to not have any more precision when indicating where your destination actually is. It would be nice if it did tell you which direction it was though. Like I said in another thread, Porsches choices of electronics suppliers are very poor. The Nav technology is about two years behind every other car out there.
