At speeds greater than 70mph I get a slight popping sound comming from underneath the passenger seat area. It's almost like tiny gravel hitting the undercarriage. I thought it might have been a stick or rope I may had picked up, getting thrashed around by air turbulence, but there is nothing in sight. Any ideas?
It could be gravel. On poor roads I hear a 'machine gun' sound under the car from little bits of gravel. I drove 60 miles at 105 mph the other day on a good road and hear no sounds I should not have. (passed 22 times during that little trip!)
It's not gravel. And the frequency doesn't change as the speed increases. I entered an off ramp today at 70mph and accelerated to 95mph through a generous turn radius. Sounded the same.
Sounds like something may be loose orFOD caught inside the undercarriageif it is only doing it at higher speeds. Did you inspect under the car?

I had a rattle that was only at above 70mph and it was the plastic panel under the car, just needed to be tightened.
K-Man S,
Where and what was tightened? I'm having the same popping sound above 70mph
It was the plastic underpanel, not sure where it was tighted up, it was more of a rattle than a pop though.
Did you have to take the car back to the dealer for this procedure?
Yes, but it was while it was in for the child seat bracket install, so I'm not sure what exactly they tightened.
Does anybody else has this popping sound? It is not too loud, but it's annoying.
Well, I tightened all the undercariage screws that hold up the plastic cover and lubed all the door; hatch; trunk seals. Test drive will be tomorrow to see if the popping sound comes back around 70mph.
Slightly away from the topic but I had a noise in my car (quite early on after I bought it)... and it turn out to be a water bottle that slid under the passenger seat /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/wink_smile.gif
I know it sounds silly but it had me thinking for two days until I found it. heheh

Today I had the chance to drive my Cayman and the Popping Sound is gone. I guess, tightening the undercarriage plastic covers and lubing the door seals did the trick.
