Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've used it a few times and it really does work, but thick gloves, a good well sealing mask and outdoor use only would be my recommendation.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a front bumper i'd like to restore it has been painted and lacquered numerous times by the looks of it but underneath it seems to be in very good condition, Due to meddling by the EU paint stripper is now rubbish or is there any that still work? What is the best way to remove the paint without aggressive sanding or damaging the plastic.

POST 2Original post

Is the paint finish that bad that it can’t just be flattened and then repainted?

POST 3Original post

Can you not get the Mother-in-law to stare at it for an hour?

There's already too much paint on it some of it looks to have reacted with what's underneath, really needs to all come off.

POST 5Original post

You can still buy paint stripper that works, but it's not available in the regular high street shops. The stuff that works is Starchem Synstryip and can be bought online from several places. Be warned though, it contains high levels of dichloromethane (the active ingredient) which is proper nasty stuff and not to be taken lightly. We're not just talking mild skin burns, this can damage your lungs and is banned in several markets. I've used it a few times and it really does work, but thick gloves, a good well sealing mask and outdoor use only would be my recommendation. I'd consider it significantly more hazardous than 2K paint. I had a litre or so of it left and diluted it significantly before desposing of it as I just didnlt like having it around.
