I would like to thank everyone that has had issues with their pressure plates for posting their experiences on here. It made me aware (paranoid) of the symptoms. When I noticed difficulty shifting into first I immediately called my local dealer in Cary NC. They were awesome. Even though they had not seen this problem, they were very responsive and made me an appointment for the next morning. The service manager only needed to shift the car one time before he declared something wrong. I informed him of what I had read here and he said that they would tear it down and check it out. Six hours later I left with my car shifting like it's meant to. Verdict: Pressure plate bolts loose. The new clutch take up point will take some getting used to. I recomend anyone who thinks they might have shifting issues to take it in and let the service manager or someone at the dealership drive your car. They drive them everyday and know what it should feel like. Once again, thanks to everyone who posted.
p.s. The service manager said that his experience with customers claiming they have a problem that they read about on the internet is about 1% prove out. Kudos for our forum!

My car is at the dealer to check the pressure plate and other issues. Rear hatch hump. The key does not open the rear hatch, horrible AM/FM reception(seems like a loose antena) and a couple others. There is only one Porsche dealer in the island and they sell tons of cars. No Loaner. They took the car Wednesday and I think started lookingat itFriday(I Hope). Lets see what their veredict is.
My symptom was a clutch burning smell even after 1700 miles. I also give thanks to this site. This is my first Porsche, and first manual in like 18 years.

Mine goes in Monday.
Same symptoms - hard to engage 1st / 2nd and reverse. It actually popped out of reverse twice on me while moving and the clutch pedal will hang at the half-way point (ie: you can remove your foot and the pedal 'stays' halfway depressed. Still drivable and the issue is intermittent.
I took it in last month becausethe gear shiftfelt 'notchy' but they didn't feel it was out of the ordinary...this time it is definitely an issue (you have to man handle it to get into 1st).

Lets try and keep the clutch issues in the main clutch problem Complaint topic. That way we can keep all the data together. It would also be nice to mention your vin # if you have the clutch failure.

Good to hear your dealer took care of you well.
Just wondering how the bolts got loose at first place, does Porsche loc-tite the bolts? /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/embaressed_smile.gif
VIN #1772
My dealer seem to think it was an install issue versus design. Only time will tell.
