I've read that the the brake system needs to be split, but I wondered if there is enough movement in the master cylinder and pipes to change the booster without disconnecting any pipes and leaving the hydraulics in tact?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I am looking to replace the brake booster on my 996 C2 (1999). Diaphragm failure I think.. (Lots of hissing from booster and a hard brake pedal. Still got vacuum at check valve) I've read that the the brake system needs to be split, but I wondered if there is enough movement in the master cylinder and pipes to change the booster without disconnecting any pipes and leaving the hydraulics in tact? Any advice would be gratefully received... Many thanks Steven Clarke Migration info. Legacy thread was 54348

POST 2Original post

Hi Steven and welcome. The 2 best sources on tech info are Rennlist and our very own 911Doctor. You could try PMing the Doc. I had a GF who suffered diaphragm failure once and caused lots of worry for a few weeks - but that's another story. Good luck Migration info. Legacy thread was 54353
