Hi, I have to replace my ABS speed sensor connection, I noticed that the ABS sensor plug is uniform and can go in either way. Do these work either way or is it suppose to go a certain way that I'm not seeing. If they go a certain way does anyone know which wire color goes to which? I searched but didn't see anything or I don't know what to look for. 1999 996 C2 Manual Thanks Tyler

It can only go in one way. There is a shape to the plug.

You're kinda right DJ... It is keyed, but can be put in wrong regardless For the OP, look at the plug and receptacle, one set of contacts is oval and the other rectangular.

Here is my abs sensor. I think u r looking at the brake pad sensor and that can go in either direction. fyi my sensors r '04 gt3

My brake pad sensors have similar plugs that can go either way in my eyes. But this is 100% the ABS speed sensor. When i google speed sensor I can see your version and mine. Thanks for the help I guess I just have a weird version, maybe later models came with a smarter system and it does not appear any of my cables/sensors were every changed as they are all crumbling in my hands. Thanks again, Tyler

If its not keyed then i would say it can go in either way. Its a simple hall sensor and im betting the earlier ones r not directional
