Recently had my secondary air injector + crankcase check valve replaced on my 987.1 Cayman S after my mechs discovered oil in the intake manifold. But after the repair, I'm now getting a rattling sound from the engine at 2.2k RPM. Any guesses? Observations in detail: Video of sound here , with the exact sound noted by the "Sound" text. This was driving on a flat highway, windows up. Rattling sound is like shuffling a deck of cards, or an electric knife sharpener. Occurs only when car is under load driving, not during stationary revs. Only occurs in gears 2-5, not 1st gear. Rattling is only audible with windows up, which makes me think it's unlikely to be a loose external part otherwise I would be able to hear it more loudly with windows down. Rattling started precisely at 2.4k rpm, but now is reproducible only at 2.2k rpm and at no other rev ranges. Rattle is present 100% of the time at 2.2k rpm while moving. Lifting off of the throttle makes it go away immediately with 0 delay. No difference for cold or warm start. Car is driving great, no other issues. No CELs, except I did get a p0431 a few hundred miles after this started (efficiency of bank 2 cat + o2 sensor). I was getting this CEL the repair and I think oil may have been getting into the cats and causing this; went away without needing to be cleared after the repair. Rattling started immediately after this repair. Cannot tell if this is a coincidental new issue or related. This is a 2006 CS 167k mile daily driver, with Blackstone oil analysis recently done looking fantastic. My mechs are awesome Porsche specialists (Carrera motors in San Mateo, California) and use OEM parts. They took an initial look but couldn't figure it out. What do you think?
