Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

At the request and suggestion of Pelican Parts owner Wayne Dempsey, I looked into the feasibility of making replacement cylinders (sleeves) for the 986/996 engines to address the issues with broken liners and the solution we came up with, as shown on our website, is our rendition of how we think we can improve upon the cylinder arrangement on these engines using improved materials and methods to 'upgrade' these blocks.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking to see if anyone has had experience with Nickies™ The Original & Genuine Solid Aluminum CNC Billet Nikasil-Plated Cylinders for Porsche. Also there was a thread a friend told me about that had to do with the intermediate shaft bearing being a problem. What can I do to fix this while the engine is dismantled? Thanks very much. Cheers Al

POST 2Original post

I'll hop in and hopefully give you some insight. We've been making cylinders for the aircooled engines for many years now, producing a premium product for those looking for the ultimate cylinder and piston combos. Although not for the faint of heart, price wise upgrading a 986/996 block with our liners and new pistons is roughly the same price as what it normally runs for a set of aircooled pistons and cylinders.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
