Still working through some niggling issues with my
987.2
. The airbag light will not reset, even using the correct scanner/code reader. I found the passenger seat was not plugged in correctly and fixed that. Still couldn't reset the airbag light. Found the Passenger Air Bag light was not connected (the whole harness under the console was missing) and fixed that. Still won't reset. I am getting 2 codes - "8016 Passenger Airbag OFF light, open circuit/short circuit to ground" and "C141 Communication
PCM
(display)." Any ideas? The car was involved in an incident where the prior owner ran over something in the road and tore up the coolant lines. Front bumper was also repaired and repainted. I am not very mechanically inclined and even worse with electrical stuff.
What scanner are you using?
I had an airbag light issue with my car after an accident that didn’t trip the airbags, but did lock the seatbelts. The seatbelts are part of the whole SRS so they trigger the same light.
I had multiple codes including some related to the airbags. My
Foxwell
scanner wouldn’t reset all of them. I had to take it to a dealer.
The scanner is made by
Autel
. I borrowed it from my old Lotus mechanic. Maybe I will try another scanner.
I thought maybe the actual light was broken and when I tried to remove it from the center console, it fell apart. I thought that was a good sign that it was bad. I bought another and replaced it ... same issue. The light never comes on, even at startup, and I still have the code. I am taking it to a
Porsche
specialist who can hopefully diagnose the issue. I hate having a light on the dash! Stay tuned.
To close this thread out - problem is solved. My car interior was not all intact when I got it. Apparently, the wiring harness to the center console was not the correct one. I got the correct one and the air bag light on the console lights up like it should and I was able to clear the light on the dash. All good now. if i can just get the
TPMS
lights to go off
